Apparently the buildings are designed to challenge the theory that comfort should be blindly pursued and suggests that our senses should be constantly challenged and surprised. So the buildings feature erratically sloping floors, concave floors, light switches in unexpected places so you have to feel around for them, a door that you have to bend to crawl through etc.
The apartments are in a "theme park" which consists of attractions designed to throw people off balance, eg warped surfaces and confusing directions.
I'd be particularly interested to hear any comments on the buildings from forum members in Japan
