Excellent! Thank you.

Well I thought some of you may miss it as it's tucked away at the bottom of the listings page and I only saw it myself this mornig.

Not staying up for it, though, now I'm in my exam period!! tongue.gif It's on tape.

And under such awful circumstances. Yes it was good tribute. Did you notice his fingers? So long and elegant, almost fragile - they seemed not to belong to his body. I couldn't take my eyes off them. A truly lovely man with no pretensions despite his genius.

My music teacher, himself a cellist, said exactly the same thing to me this morning. To be honest, I didn't, probably because I don't play strings, but I was still spellbound by his music.

It was a fascinating programme and gave some great insights into music playing - how he said what was in your mind, what you were thinking about as you played - this is so important bacause it truly affects the music. The past pupil who talked about his master classes remembered a funny thing he said - R. never used his cello to teach but would use words to evoke the correct response. On one piece of music he told his pupil to imagine you had just come out of hospital after a successful operation for haemorroids and you could sit down for the first time - that analogy apparently did the trick !!
