Sam and I have both bought lovely new shoulder rests.

However, they are supposed to be the same, but mine curves in the opposite direction, like a mirror image of Sam's. Indeed it curves in the opposite direction to every other shoulder rest I have seen.

I've telephoned the dealer who is going to contact the supplier, he is as confuzzled as we are.

Here's a photo

Nice looking shoulder rests!

It looks as if they might have put the legs and other fittings on the wrong side when they were assembling the shoulder rest. If the legs were mounted on the other side, then the two shoulder rests would match, wouldn't they?.

I can't imagine that there would be much demand for a left-handed shoulder rest. I only know of one professional player who plays his violin on the other shoulder.

Hmmm yes.. if they put the black padding on the wrong surface etc. But the wood is shaped, the top with the padding is a flat surface and the bottom is curved, so it can't be this.
