Was watching Chelsea (the flower show wink.gif) on the tv chez my mum the other day and heard a piece that I totally recognise but can't for the life of me place.

Wondering if anyone can help me either by recognising the piece or by knowing where the website is that recognises music?

Rhythm best described as "bom bom bom bom bala bala bala bala bala bala bom bom bala baaaaa" laugh.gif the boms being detached notes, say crotchets and the balas being slurred duplet quavers, slurred from the ba to the la (!) so the bow changes with each b.

Strings, very homophonic. Quite a bit of dynamic change, if memory serves.

Gut feeling suggests Haydn or Handel, but no idea really...

Tune in solfa:

fa fa fa fa fa-mi mi-soh soh-fa fa-mi mi-fa fa-la la la la-soh-soh....

That's just the first phrase (rhythm and tune, hope they fit laugh.gif) the second is similar but I forget how it ends unsure.gif

Delibes -Flower duet (Lakme) ??

On subsequent thinking - most likely not cos it doesn't match anything you described!! laugh.gif
And as I don't watch TV I haven't heard it biggrin.gif
earplugs
Go on, sing it on Youtube and we'll tell you ! biggrin.gif

I think this is a bit from the middle of Vltava (Moldau) by Smetana. Possibly the part where the river flows past a wedding party ??

YES! That's it, thanks Maggie - I knew as soon as someone said I'd recognise it which is why it was bugging me! THANK YOU!

& major kudos for making sense of what I wrote biggrin.gif
