Full Version: Laue Concerto For Grade 7?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I am starting with some students next year and so was listing all my concertos etc... to see what grade listing everything was, while I was going through I saw that the Laue Concerto is listed as grade 7. Now this seems to me to be ridiculous, it is for D trumpet or Picc and goes to E above top C on the D trumpet (equivilent to G# above top C on a Bb trumpet). Has anyone played this for a grade 7 exam? If so was it down an octave or have I got completely the wrong piece? I'm a bit confused so any help anyone could give me would be great.

Cheers

Did you check wether the syllabus asks for a certain movement? - The 2nd movement of the haydn is asked for at grade 7 I think, with two movements required for grade 8. It does seem a bit harsh to ask for all of the Laue.

The syllabus states the first two movements which seem to me to be the hardest ones! The level I'm at at the moment I can deal with the Haydn and Hummel to a reasonable level but the Laue just seems ridiculous, its so high and constant and its on a D or Picc wich makes it harder! (for students who aren't used to it).

Thanks for the post, maybe theres another Laue concerto I dont know about (although the Allegro and Adagio movements fit with the hard one wacko.gif )
