who do u think is the best classical (opera) singer? i think there ar a bunch of them...

Hmm, where do I start? The first classical singer I ever liked was Kiri Te Kanawa, my dad had a tape of hers... I quietly appropriated it for myself, and still listen to it rather a lot. Lately I've been listening to Renee Fleming, Cecilia Bartoli and Catherine King, who is one of those superb warm-voiced mezzos you don't seem to hear about much. She sings a lot of early and Renaissance music, Dowland and that sort of thing. Her recording of "Lasso vita mia" is particularly haunting.

I never got into male singers in the same way, for some reason. I like listening to them and admire Bryn Terfel etc very much, but I wouldn't go and buy one of his albums... not sure why.

i agree liebe_klavier, i don't you can have a favourite opera singer. yea, i think cecilia bartoli and renee fleming are brill, and so is angela gheorghiu (sorry if the spelling is wrong), maria callas and lesley garrett (strictly come dancing!) hee hee!
