Full Version: Where Can I Buy Blue Acetate?

If I recall correctly, some members of the forum have had experience in the past of using blue acetate over sheet music to aid readability. AP and I have an experiment we'd like to try with this, but we can't find it for sale on the Internet anywhere - other than a US site selling it for $4 a sheet plus shipping, customs etc. etc.

If anyone knows where we can get some, either online or from a high-street shop (Glasgow probably has one if it's a chain), I'd be grateful if you could let me know smile.gif.

This site advertises blue acetate sheets. It's actually an online craft site so I don't know if the product will be too thick for what you plan.

Theatrical lighting suppliers do sheets of coloured film (some sort of gel rather than acetate) for use as light filters. The filters come in a huge range of colours and thicknesses. If you are after a particular shade of blue these might be suitable. They are not cheap, but if you only need small samples for your experiment then you can get colour swatch books (with all the colours in), which used to be free.

I know this company supplies these filters (to see the range of colours look in the category for colour filters), but you will probably have a local theatrical lighting supplier in Glasgow.

Have you tried Staples? I don't know if they specifically sell blue acetate, but they do have a huge range of stationery products.

I got some from the optician - they gave me all manner of colours to try! It was free.

Thanks all, we'll have a look in a stationery shop or opticians smile.gif. I was just wondering if there were packs available of twenty two different shades of blue from a specialist, we'll see what we can get for now though.
