My teacher has recommended Czerny op 636, to improve my speed. I am trying the first two exercises. Like some on the other thread on sight-reading, I am having some problems. I wasn't brilliant at sight reading as a teenager and (funnily) 40 years of neglect did not improve the situation. I used to be able to learn 'by heart' but have not in the last year of lessons (partly because I have been doing a lot of pieces).
So - if I cannot read Czerny quickly enough to play at speed, any tips for how to commit it to memory.
I can play the first two accurately - but slowly which is not what is required.
