Full Version: Rods - Which Type?

I've started to play for a few shows now which is great fun, but having just done Sweet Charity I've realised that brushes aren't loud enough - I need some rods.

The question is, which ones? There are so many different ones available - bamboo, birch, nylon - some with just a few thick rods, some more like brushes. I want something that is distinct from a hard stick sound - i.e. that sounds quite like a brush but carries better over the other instruments. I can't easily get anywhere that will stock a good variety for me to try so it's going to be an internet order.

I'm playing for The Full Monty next (should be great fun - the music is superb, and as for the rest....will I be able to concentrate on playing? ph34r.gif ) and I don't imagine there'll be much brush work as it's very "rocky" but I want to be prepared.

Thanks!

Sorry - I don't check AB forums as much as I perhaps ought to, so I only saw this thread fairly recently...
