My daughter has her grade 5 tomorrow, and I'm the nervous one...not her ! she did about 50 minutes practise today, I suppose theres no point over-doing it. Best of luck...

Keep working on it today and tomorrow but concentrate on performing the pieces, keeping going at all costs. Scales of course, and try to look at some unseen music. Whe I did my gr 8 last year I was told just to 'top and tail' on the day, warm up with scales and go for it. I wish you loads of luck - enjoy yourself.

Firstly, breathe. You will be fine.
When you practise, try to perform the piece - listen appreciatively, not critically. We are our harshest critics, so if you manage hear some beauty in what you're playing then you must be doing a brilliant job! Imagine how wonderful this would sound to someone else who isn't listening so critically
What repertoire are you playing?

Sounds like a nicely contrasting program. Hope you're feeling a little calmer than a few days ago Good luck, you will be brilliant!

My advice, for what it's worth - without knowing you or your individual needs - is to practise pieces alternately slowly and up-to-speed. It's easy to pick up bad habits in the last week and remember that a few nerves on the day may make you rush it even more. Any mistakes you make in the run-up to the examination are likely to be replicated on the day. My teacher always advised me that the final practice should be a slowed down one - that way you are likely to be buzzing for the up-to-speed one on the day. It mightn't work for you but it certainly did for me!
I can remember very well the first time I did my own Grade VIII at the age of 18 over thirty years ago now. It's a big day - quite an occasion and one you'll probably never forget.
All the very best!
