My (loooong overdue) grade 5 flute: 135.

Pieces - got pretty much what I was expecting, or maybe a bit higher. Considering how disastrous they felt at the time, not bad! 27 27 26, I can live with that, especially for the first one which was a nightmare, and I made at least one reeeeeeeeally dumb error in the second! I thought I was going to be lucky to get 25 for the first and 26 for the second.

Scales 18 - harsh sad.gif I thought they were better, but I was a bit brain dead so maybe I missed a few fluffs - never mind.

Aural 17 - don't know if I actually made a mistake or if it was hesitation, but yeah - my brain gave out, & I knew I would get a mark knocked off and thought it might be two, so PHEW!

Sight-reading - 20!!! Yay! Best ever. Very chuffed.

So... overall, it's a lot better than I expected after coming out of the exam room, so that's nice to know.

And yes, if you're wondering, I did keep it quiet from all but about half a dozen people (in real life, too!), and I was supposed to be taking it 2 years ago. I am officially a coward ph34r.gif laugh.gif But at least it's done. & the result does give me some confidence that I'm doing OK, which was the plan. Wonder if it'll take me 2 1/2 years to do the next one wacko.gif

I'd love to know what I could've got without the nerves *sigh* but yeah I'm pleased biggrin.gif

Looooong overdue rolleyes.gif but I'm glad I finally plucked up courage. At the current rate I should be confident to take grade 6 by the time I am starting DipABRSM repertoire or something rolleyes.gif laugh.gif wacko.gif

two exams in two days, not going to do that again!

You didn't see my hands shaking before I walked into the examining room...

I wouldn't plan it that way - it was a bit unfortunate to say the least! I'll be taking steps to avoid it happening in future ph34r.gif

You missed it....

No, I kept it really quiet laugh.gif I'm not very good with flute exams, they freak me out - I took G4 in '04, was supposed to take grade 6 2 years ago... have just taken G5. Tells you everything laugh.gif

I played (after much uncertainty!) the Mozart, the R.R.Bennett, and the Damase study.

The 2 in 2 days wasn't really intentional wacko.gif though am quite chuffed I managed it!

No idea if/when I'll do another grade... hope to get G8 one day but which/how many exams I will do in the meantime, who knows ph34r.gif

Onwards and upwards. That's the main thing biggrin.gif
sarah-flute
Yep. Even if grade wise I have only apparently gone up one in the last 2 years, I know my playing has got a lot better than that shows biggrin.gif It is nice to know that I can play, for me, not very well, to be honest, and still get a good mark. Must be better than I'd feared! rolleyes.gif

Yep, I know. I am not explaining myself very well *grin* I know I'm more than one grade's worth better than I was 2 years ago - & even if I wasn't sure, flautists I trust keep telling me that I'm comfortably beyond grade 5. I was slightly disappointed at how I played in the exam - I sent a couple of those "in the know" on here PMs when I got back numbering all my many mistakes and faults in the exam room laugh.gif - and I still got a really good mark. So it is nice to know that even with bad nerves and playing what seemed to me a little poorly, I still got that mark - it means that I have to be better than I give myself credit for, and gives me another reason to believe myself (and my flutey friends) that I am & I'm not just fooling myself smile.gif

My (loooong overdue) grade 5 flute: 135.

Congratulations Sarah! That's a fantastic set of marks, with no weak section at all, and I think it's pretty unusual only to lose a single mark on the sight-reading at that level!
Pieces 27/30 27/30 26/30 Scales 18/21 Aural 17/18 Sight-reading 20/21.

The fluting world is your oyster. I hope you've got some really interesting repertoire lined up to enjoy now that stepping stone is behind you. smile.gif

dacapo: loads of plans! I own faaaaaaaaaaaar too much music biggrin.gif

I received my marksheets this morning and reading through am really pleased, the G5 guy looks if anything to have been a slightly hard marker comparing comment to mark, as compared to other comments sheets I have to compare them to, so I really feel like I earned all those marks the hard way which feels very satisfying biggrin.gif
