I just found out I got a distinction for grade 8 flute. I didn't tell anyone I was doing it except my parents (and the accompanist obviously!) as I was dreading the outcome. I got 131. Bach E major 26, Rutter 26, Piazzolla No.3 27, scales 17 (poor), sight reading 19, and aural 16. And all on a humble Yamaha 211, just to prove it can be done.
So I now have grade 8 distinction for clarinet, sax, and flute. Something I could only have dreamt of until now. I'm trying to resist any more exams but I always said I would do grade 8 piano (accompanist is teaching me from next week though I may not do the exam!).
Good luck to anyone else waiting results.

Why stop now? Perhaps you should tackle the double reeds next, for a full house!
Congratulations, a very fine result!

That's a fantastic result

Congratulations! The Piazzolla is lovely - if you liked your study you might like his Histoires du Tango for flute and guitar

Well done, Neil. Scales 17 is not poor. Or if it is, I'm poor at recorder scales too.

Thanks everyone.

No idea what next. I think I'll go and get that Altus I wanted a while back. I held off to see how far I could go with the student Yamaha.
Not sure whether to do piano or recorder next, or tell myself I don't need to do exams.
