When you teach in schools, if ur going 2 teach viola, will the music service running the lessons try 2 make u teach violin as well? My music service seem to do this all the violin teachers have 2 teach viola as well just wondered if it was the same the other way round.

I'm not 100% certain but i think so because i know quite a number of peripatetic string teachers and all of them teach both violin and viola. I suppose its just the case of changing clefs all the time and being familiar with both the instruments. smile.gif

Some of the string teachers I know just teach violin but some, like my viola teacher, teach both violin and viola. Must be confusing biggrin.gif

Its not that confusing, I play viola AND violin, you learn to split them up. But when it gets difficult on the violin I stop thinking I'm playing a violin and meant to be reading the treble clef and I start thinking I'm playing a viola and reading the alto! rolleyes.gif

I used to play violin but now I play viola instead and every time I try to play violin that happens to me too. unsure.gif
