Full Version: Frustration And Nerves!

Hello,
My G8 piano exam is on the 8th of September and I've started making some awful slips in my pieces and scales. I guess its nerves or something. Its very frustrating and scary! I hope I don't mess up my exam.
My mother has suggested I stop practising for 2 days and then get back to it. So right now I'm just listening to some music to help in my Aurals.
Has anyone else ever freaked out like this before the exams. If so what did you do to combat nerves?
Thanks,
Rupayan.

Sounds like you're practising too much. Either take a break from practising, or limit your practise to, say, 20 minutes a day for a while. I'm sure it'll all come together in time for the exam smile.gif

hey!!!!

i kno how you feel!!! it is totally nerve wrenching, when pieces that were perfect start going wrong!!

my advice is to chill, have determination, its not as if these slip ups have always been there!! you can play the pieces!! remember this!! have faith in yourself, enjoy what your doing and you'll be fine, just dont focus too much on something that you can already do!!

good luck!!! let us know how it goes!

Try not practicing for a few days. Don't even think about it. It might help you to relax. A lot of times about 2 weeks before an exam or competition I stop practicing for a little while and it calmes me down. When I practice too much, I end up playing worse. blink.gif
