Can anyone recommend a nice piece from grade 7 list b. I only have Poulenc's sonata from this list and I don't like that. I've got the syllabus from 2002-2003 and 2006-2007 plus the Trinity syllabus for 2007 and this is the only piece on all three syllabus and I'm assuming that this will probably be the same when the new syllabus comes out as there doesn't seem to be a lot between them. I did wonder what Bozza's aria was like as that's on all three. Can anyone help?
Scaramouche
Bozza's Aria is really nice. The other two I like on the list are the Ravel and Some of These Days by Shelton Brooks.

The Bozza Aria is by far the most popular piece on List B among my students, but it's very expensive. sad.gif I also like the Dvorak. I would avoid the Caplet (unless you have a pianist on tap - you need to learn both parts together) and the Berkeley, which is much too difficult. I love the Ravel (naturally, given that I'm a Ravel fan) but have found it hard to 'sell' to my students.

agree.gif Bozza Aria is beautiful smile.gif Also agree about the Dvorak which is lovely and Some of the These Days although this one is technically quite difficult in places. Those three pieces would definately be my pick of the bunch from list B.

I'm 100% with Scaramouche on this, the 3 mentioned are lovely particularly the Bozza and Ravel, however if you want to get your teeth stuck into something jazzy and lively the Shelton Brooks is great fun! I have a student tackling this at the moment with great enthusiasm and glee biggrin.gif

The Bozza is very pretty though it's soooooo expensive for one short piece wacko.gif

I like the Saint-Saens on the TG list too.

I've never played the Dvorak on the flute but it's fabulous on the fiddle - great piece wub.gif if it's as good on flute as on violin then go for it, it's great!

I'm not fussed about the Ravel but maybe I've just not got into it... I want to like it but it's yet to grab me (I also think I have the oboe version which doesn't help!!)

Some Of These Days sounds like fun though haven't tried it - yet!

I got the Berkeley today. That was the only thing they had which was on the grade 7 syllabus in the music shop.
