I've never posted in this forum before but I just thought I'd say I love percussion, especially when the most amazing sounds can be made with the simplest of instruments. At the jazzfest I went to at the weekend, the percussionist had a washboard on a stand which was also fitted with a tiny cymbal, a bell and a wood block. It was so cool! I know this is a skill you percussionists probably take for granted, but I thought it was amazing that she could stroke the rhythm on the washboard with one hand whilst the other hand was tapping hemidemisemi-lotsofemi-quavers with the other hand. I would never be able to co-ordinate my hands like that
Oh forgot to say, she had a drum kit as well, which also sounded pretty good!
Here's a picture of the band anyway,
the Red Hot Reedwarmers
Les Jazzticots, just thought I'd share all this with you percussionists
