Three or four years ago when this debacle was first mooted everyone I know in medicine said "this is a recipe for disaster" but the managers, administrators and politicians took their usual attitude of putting telescopes to their blind eyes and saying they saw no problems . . . so a disaster has taken place. It is so bad that many senior clinicians refuse to have anything to do with it, to the extent of refusing to sit in interview committees for it. This naturally compounds the problem. Literally thousands of talented doctors are leaving either the profession or the country (or both). Sadly, there are going to be some who use their medical knowledge to help them leave not only this country but this life.

For this reason those responsible for MMC, in a quite literal sense will have blood on their hands. Those people should not only resign, they should be held accountable and brought to book on a charge of criminal wilful negligence.

However, this has nothing to do with music, which is where I go to escape this sort of thing. Reading this thread, of only one post at the time of writing, and posting this reply has come close to ruining my evening.

Stay out of the Cafe then - though sometimes non-musical things intrude on other areas, it's true, avoiding the Cafe avoids a lot of this kind of stuff too.

I know - If I don't like it I don't have to be here. This one was so relevant though: I couldn't resist, and as you can see it just made me angry. I think I did stay out of the cafe for the rest of the evening, so although it came close, no banana. I'm happy now (133 - wow!)

I'm very aware of the situation FC. When I was taken into hospital with my stomach ulcer earlier this year, there were a lot of very anxious junior doctors around the place. (not that that got in the way of treatment). I might have been sick but the curate's wife in me listened to these poor doctors plights just as normal.

What has happened is despicable. These junior doctors are needed in this country so the government has another computer ######-up and the careers of these hard working and dedicated people is thrown up in the air.

In a few years time they'll be bleating that there are not enough GP Registrars around to fill the posts of the GPs who are retiring.

What has happened is a travesty.
