My music teacher told me the price of my grade 4 flute exam (gulp) and it shocked me at the price of it. £34.50!!!! Have the price of exams gone up?
Has anyone else found this?

My grade 7 exam cost a fortune, and I didn't even really want to take it. I think they are a bit overpriced, but then the examiners have to be trained, and paid, and the exam venue must be paid for too I think...

Rhapsodin Posted on Aug 22 2004, 04:02 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm not sure if this is true...perhaps it's just a rumour...but I heard that the ABRSM is opening a mortgage department for those wishing to take Grade 8 and above...

I think my grade 8 might just turn into my Christmas present.
Seeing as my parents know how much I just love music exams!

I would be interested to see how the ABRSM justifies charging such high rates for exams - one wonders how much profit they are making!

Oh dear, I knew it was coming, but my teacher said she would be needing the money for my grade 8 at my next lesson. Trying to figure out how to break the news to my parents...
Maybe I should do it up as a reward for doing so well in my GCSE's.
Some reward though another exam!!

Yeah, they are a bit high, but i suppose your paying the examiner their wage, and they are highly qualified. On top of that there is probably the cost of the hire of the place where the exams are taking place, and then the paperwork and stuff.

Of course all that is printed in size 0.2 font or said in about 3 milliseconds...
