Yes - I really loved it but then I think the only music to listen to is that written up till 1750! Clearly Emma has an exceptional talent but the fact that her university degree was classics and she started as a teacher before concentrating on singing should be an encouragement to those of us who change direction at different stages. Some wonderful excerpts of Monteverdi Madrigals (I am going to a series of 5 concerts of them at the Edinburgh International Festival

) and interesting masterclasses.

Oh rats! I didn't know about it - was it a TV programme?
Emma Kirkby is my favourite soprano. She is at Dartington International Summer School (in Devon) this year agian giving recitals and Masterclasses. I hope to get along to a concert though they do get booked up.
Mind you, I don't know if you have heard Elin Manahan Thomas's new CD? Her voice is very Emma Kirkby-ish ,yet in a new and original way - she is definitely going to be a favourite for me alongside Emma. Elin's recording of Dido's Lament is the best I've heard yet.

There is a podcast available - which i believe you can listen to the programme?. I don't know how to download podcasts or what they really are or where they go on the ocmputer - I tried to download one and it disappeared into cyberspace, but if anyone knows what do to with a podcast, it might be better than nothing?

I was lucky enough to have a lesson with her when I was at university... I don't remember much of it,unfortunately, but I was with her for about five hours...and she gave me lunch. She was lovely.
