Is anyone learning this piece?

I'm doing the 3rd movement at the moment. I have the whole of the hols to make it sound like a piece, and not a bit of failed sightreading...

I'm having trouble with the rythm from bar 91 - 99. I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY!!! It sounds strange, because I'm playing it much slower than it will be when It's finished

Oh my gosh!!!!

I just love the first movement!!! wub.gif

I know it sounds stupid, but what would your teacher do? I'm saying, as a teacher, probably clap it, then play it without the notes, then try playing it slowly!! Break down the pulse that you are counting. Eg, instead of counting in crotchets, count in quavers???

Is that the Opus 6 no. 3? (or is it opus 3 no. 6 blink.gif laugh.gif ... I must go and have a look)

If it is then I'm learning the first movement and love it!

I played this a lot at one time but can't find the music any more so don't know bar numbers to find your problem passage. From my recollection of it, playing it a bit slowly as Malone suggests counting 4 quavers to the bar (if I remember right it's in 2/4) should sort it out in your mind. Also I used to like trying to give it a longer downbow on the first quaver beat of each bar which helped give it a bit more rhythmical shape if that makes sense.

Bars 91 - 95 are just a slightly decorated version of the beginning. I would endorse the suggestion to count in quavers, or set your metronome to quavers with a semiquaver sub-beat if you have one of those fancy ones (I don't!) But it's a fantastic piece and well worth persevering with. Good luck!

I recently picked up a copy in my local Oxfam shop (lucky me - I think someone has had a clear out of violin music and I've picked up a whole raft of music for peanuts and the Vivaldi was one of them - with very helpful fingering pencilled in!) anyway - it's great fun isn't it - although I've only had a quick run-through. I'll have a look at the bars you mention but I've just found a friend close by to duo on the Bartok duets so I'm well into those at the mo. Also I've got to paint the kitchen ceiling tomorrow but which is totally irrelevant to anything - just thought I'd try and muster up some sympathy.

Have fun. party1.gif

Is it Opus 3 nr 6??????

If it is then I enjoy playing this. The great thing is, I picked up a copy that had a CD orchestral backing track too, so it's really good fun!

If it is this one, bar 91 - 99 of third movement I would say: think of bar 92 and 94 as 2 crotchets (in my copy they're beamed together which makes them look like quavers), then in bars 97 and 98 think 'grass hopper spider'! for the rhythm. I would count 4 quavers in a bar too, just to get a steady beat.
