Hi,

Help! Please excuse my ignorance, but am I right in thinking that How Beautiful Are The Feet is about the beginning of evangilism? I understand it comes from the prophecies of Isiah, but as a non church goer that doesn't mean to much to me.

Any advice on this song, what leads up to it, and what follows would be greatly appreciated. I am due to perform it first thing tomorrow morning, and am feeling woefully ignorant.

Many thanks, smile.gif

It's from Isaiah 52:7. The full verse reads (New International Version rather than King James)

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!' "

The context is - roughly - the restoration prophecies about the return of the Jews from Babylon. Jerusalem was destroyed and the land lay almost desolate for 70 years, until Babylon itself fell to Medo-Persia and the Jews were allowed to return, and to rebuild Jerusalem. Whole sections of Isaiah talk about this time in beautiful poetic language, when the land and the nation would be restored. smile.gif If you have a Bible anywhere, or can access one on-line, the second half of Isaiah 65, from about verse 17 gives a good picture.

Don't know if any of that helps... wink.gif

Thank you very much Alder for the reference, and for explaining the context.

Much appreciated. smile.gif
