Not to worry - it's been annoying and frustrating for you so I more than understand - just a pity!

It is a pity, but at least I have a contact now with lovely people at a decent venue.

And I haven't pulled all of my hair out in frustration just yet laugh.gif

The very successful Stalybridge AL event is now over, well done to sbhoa and all involved! The next Adult Learner event is now not until early 2009, with katyjay and AmandaL's Teddington concert. The date is still to be advised (somewhere in late January/February).

The next event on the calendar is the Northern Ireland forum concert on 23rd August. The closing date for this is this Friday. Act now if you want to come!

Don't forget also the other two confirmed events, the single reed day on Saturday 20th September in Greenwich (applications open now), and the orchestral playday in Salford, Greater Manchester on Saturday 15th November (applications open very shortly, hopefully next month). smile.gif

Provisional date for Farnborough (Kent) forum concert : Saturday 18th October 2008

The next post will confirm this, and in due course launch the website.

I am still waiting for the venue to send me a bill, and various phone calls/emails etc. have not hurried them up one jot. sad.gif

If the venue doesn't send me anything in the next few days, I will be moving the event to Greenwich (the same venue as for the single reed day). Will keep you informed...

Have you heard from them, Barry?

(Keen to have London-ish event... biggrin.gif )

As far as Farnborough goes, no. sad.gif

But I'm going to pop into the Greenwich venue next week to check out logistics and suchlike, with a view to moving the whole London area event lock, stock and barrel there. They are a lovely bunch of people at Greenwich, who do things with minimal fuss and I hope to have a long term agreement with them to hold various playdays and other events there in 2009 and maybe beyond. smile.gif

Sorry if I missed it elsewhere but, was there an outcome to this? Is there a concert in Greenwich on 18th October - or was that wishful thinking on my part..?

No, you haven't missed anything.

We're in limbo. I've asked the venue about two possible dates (the other being November 29th), and they are 'going to get back to me' .

I doubt I'll have it booked before Northern Ireland, but I will keep you all informed.

You also have a PM willobie. smile.gif

fingersCrossed.gif The Nov date will have to involve lots of shuffling for me, but I guess it'll be worth it. Would be great to have a London event!

Let me know if I can help with the organising side etc smile.gif

Forum event update for Sept/Oct/Nov

Next event : the Belle Epoque-rs in Rotherhithe on 6/9, 7:30pm.

This is followed by the clarinet/sax playday in Greenwich on 20/9, 11am-4pm. I must have applications in for this by 8/9, so I can have time to source 8-10 pieces to play for this, thank you!

Then it's the Clapham Omnibus (recorder players andante, kj, willobie, noisybassoonist and jo.clarinet) at Rotherhithe on 4/10.

That's followed by another recital at Rotherhithe on 1/11, featuring jo.clarinet, Carl, Deborah and I in concert a-clarinetting.

Then it's the Eccles playday at 10am on 15/11. This is looking set to be a big event, do come if you can. smile.gif

I'll confirm a date for the London forum concert (Greenwich) as soon as I can, it looks like 29/11 is favourite. Many apologies for the slowness here, I've had, as many of you know, horrendous problems sorting this out. sad.gif

There are threads for all these events (except the Greenwich forum concert) here. smile.gif

Fingers crossed and really hoping that it will be the 18th October as I don't think I can make the 29th November.....................

It will be the 29th November : if I have any joy with venue.

Another two venues failed to give me anything that I wanted to have sad.gif , and I'm trying two final throws of the dice. I'm so annoyed it's untrue sad.gif

It wouldn't be so bad if the original venue had kept their promise. They didn't. sad.gif

You may have read I've had awful problems with venues for London...

Now unfortunately, through no fault of her own, carol*piano has had to pull out, which leaves me with an accompaniment problem...

Therefore, I'm thinking of moving the concert to June 2009. What do the forum populace think? smile.gif

Sorry everyone sad.gif but unfortunately, paid work from one of longest serving clients (the local ballet school) has to come first...
So I would be in favour of a move biggrin.gif

I'm going to see if I can do a very small local gathering for 29/11 instead, a la playday. Nothing substantial, and no promises yet, but I'll post as soon as I can.

Thanks, Barry, for trying to organise a London event smile.gif

I thought 29/11 clashed with another appointment but I think it might be ok, fingers crossed.

Reminder of the next 2008 forum event : Clapham Omnibus recorder consort in concert at Rotherhithe, 4th October, 7:30pm biggrin.gif

Have added both the Greenwich Early Music Festival (14-16/11) and the Roehampton Early Music event that Claire21 has recommended (29/11) to the calendar. smile.gif
barry-clari
All the forum events (bar the Early Music event Claire21 asked me to add) are now over for 2008.

I'd like to thank all the organisers and participants over the year for all your hard work and support - it's been I think the best year yet.

Let's hope 2009 is as good! yay.gif

I'm going to ask for this calendar to be unpinned, and replaced with the 2009 calendar after Claire21's event next weekend. smile.gif
