I have had some forms in for the Anglesey Weekend but I really need to have a rough idea on numbers and who will be staying for the visit to the Glass studio and the meal in Beaumaris. I have been able to budget for a bus but I have to order the size very soon. Perhaps those who are thinking of coming could let me know as soon as possible and get their forms ready too please?
katyjay
Petrat - Form in progress and will be with you shortly. Misterjay and I will both be there for the glass studio and the meal.

Cheers

Katyjay

Hi Petrat.

Posted my form yesterday. Me and hubby will be staying for the meal and, more than likely, the visit to the glass factory.

Thanks,

hillyb

Sorry, petrat. I meant to post the form this week, but it's still sitting there. However, accommodation is booked, and I'm definitely coming. hurrah.gif

Entertainment coming your way from the forum concert organisation committee biggrin.gif

Saturday February 9th Katyjay, as many of you will testify, knows how to sing. In spades. Next Saturday, you have the chance to come and listen to her, live in concert, at Rotherhithe (Bermondsey tube is nearest station). Tickets are available on the door, the website is here.

Saturday February 9th Skylark's first Leeds playday, details are somewhere in this sub-forum, on a separate thread.

Sunday February 17th The second Market Harborough playday for 2008. These are very relaxed ensemble playing opportunities, I can cater for any standard from about grade 2ish upwards.

Saturday March 1st Come and hear andante_in_c and I in the second Rotherhithe recital. Music from Finzi, Gaubert, Laurie Holloway and Shostakovich, amongst others. smile.gif

Saturday March 8th/Sunday March 9th Petrat's Anglesey forum concert, the first one of the year. And my word, petrat has worked really hard to organise this. smile.gif Website with full details is here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other event progress:

* Still no concrete news on Farnborough I'm afraid. But rest assured there will be a South East England forum concert at the end of October. biggrin.gif

* I'm in the first stages of organising (initially) a small scale forum event (playday or similar) in North Essex, this summer, in conjunction with clarinet_michelle.

* A reminder that the forum single reed day will be in Deptford/Greenwich on Saturday 20th September and will provide opportunities to play and talk about all things single reed. Applications for this will open in May, and places will be limited so get those applications in as soon as you can when the application address is published. biggrin.gif

Have a look at the calendar for 2008 at the top of the thread, and, if you haven't been to an event before, see if you can make 2008 the first year you come to one - you won't regret it smile.gif

Edit : next Market Harborough playday will now probably be in April. The 17th February regrettably has had to be postponed.

Just to let you all know that I have been scouring my local town of Braintree for possible venues and so far I have come up with two for a playday and one for a recital. The one which I am hoping we can use for a recital has a grand piano, I went and had a look today at it, and it seems good to me smile.gif

Barry, I have all the info on the hall and the contact details, which I'll email you privately about.

Also have contacted the person organising the event in Suffolk to see if there is a possibility about me coming to it. If not I may well go next year.

We now have a very expert accompanist ready and willing to play for everyone at the Anglesey meeting on March 8th. He cannot be at the playing session at Plas Newydd on Sunday so we will have to work around that. Please can I have copies of the accomps. to any solo pieces that you wish to play as soon as possible so that I can pass them on to him. Send them to me at the address shown on the entry form to be found on the events calendar link.
petrat
Please get those accomps to me asap if you want Arwel to play. And if you have not yet sent in a form DO IT NOW!
katyjay
Petrat, did my music arrive?

EDIT: Just spotted on the other thread that it did. biggrin.gif
petrat
Yes, all well. When I have a few more parts I will pass them on to the accompanist. No more in the post yet though.

Calendar update...

*Braintree playday entry updated to reflect probable first playday in the summer.

*Market Harborough bandstand gig relegated to the 'pending' list, 'til meerkat is better.

Just for people's information, the 2009 ohmy.gif calendar will go online in July/August, do have a think if there's anything you wish to see happen in 2009. I would love to see some new parts of the UK represented. smile.gif
barry-clari
Latest calendar update:

*probable date for the Braintree playday announced - I haven't 100% confirmed this, but the application form will go off very soon, and all being well, the 3rd August will, in the immortal words of the Thunderbirds, be 'go'!

*I've taken the taster day off the 2008 calendar as a possible - it's still on my mind, but with all my other forum event committments, realistically, this will be a 2009 event at the earliest.

*Link to the Stalybridge Adult Learner concert website added (it's on July 19th)

A further reminder to all of you to have a think of what you might like to see happen in 2009. I might start a suggestions thread if enough people would be interested, and there's still a couple of you I want to contact/contact again about possible events. smile.gif

The next event is on Saturday 12th April, when we have the 3rd Rotherhithe recital, featuring two amazingly talented musicians, nicki_flute and maggiemay. Details are here, tickets are also available on the door.

The next forum concert is on Saturday 31st May, in Leeds. Skylark's your contact here for more information. The website will go live soon. smile.gif

The next Adult Learner concert is on Saturday 19th July, in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. The website is here, and applications are open now! Sbhoa organised a really great event in 2007, this year's will be just as fab, so be there if you can! biggrin.gif

The Northern Ireland (Belfast) forum concert is on Saturday 23rd August. This is going to be a great gig - I'm looking forward to spending plenty of time over there! smile.gif Applications for this will open very, very soon - look out for further info from noodle.

More playdays will be formally announced in the future. At the moment, I'm sorting out a playday in Braintree, Essex (not far from Chelmsford/Stansted/Colchester), all being well on Sunday 3rd August. Will confirm this on the thread as soon as I can.

If you come to any of these events, you're guaranteed a fab time, so get those diaries out! biggrin.gif

2009... ohmy.gif

There's already a number of plans for 2009, Anglesey being one of the more advanced. The calendar for 2009 will go up in June, and will include a few 'non-forum' events that are likely to have heavy forum presence. In the meantime, I will fairly soon start a 2009 thread to discuss possibilities for the year. smile.gif

At the moment, Braintree is as near as we're going to get. All being well, there'll be a playday there (where I bring a load of ensemble music, and we then all play it biggrin.gif ) later in the year.

Latest event update smile.gif

Leeds: is six days away. Last minute preparations are happening as we speak. See you there!

Rotherhithe recitals: One more before the summer break, on 14/6/08, with singers meerkat and jod.

Stalybridge: The closing date for this adult learner event, on 19/7/08, is less than a month away, and places are filling fast. Get your application off to sbhoa as soon as you possibly can!

Belfast: Still plenty of time to get applications away for this forum concert, the closing date being 25/7/08. Preparations are well advanced for this event, which will be on 23/8/08.

Greenwich single reed day: Make a note of 20/9/08 for this event. The web page will go live in mid-late June. This is a playday for all clarinet and saxophone players!

Manchester: Lots of plans for Manchester, including one playday in 2008, in November. These plans are very exciting, watch the new thread here for more details.

Aberdeen: Malone and I are making initial plans for a forum event in the Aberdeen area next summer (2009). Again, there's a new thread in the events sub-forum, and when we get closer to the event, we'll publish more.

That should for the moment keep you all going biggrin.gif

There is a bit of parking TSax. It's at the slightly quieter Deptford end of Greenwich, and there are a few side streets. It's not all that plentiful though, so I would recommend, for any events here (and there will be a few over the next few months), that, if you can, you use public transport (the train service is very good, with both Southeastern and Docklands Light Railway services, and Greenwich station is about 90 seconds walk from the venue.)

As far as Farnborough goes, no. sad.gif

But I'm going to pop into the Greenwich venue next week to check out logistics and suchlike, with a view to moving the whole London area event lock, stock and barrel there. They are a lovely bunch of people at Greenwich, who do things with minimal fuss and I hope to have a long term agreement with them to hold various playdays and other events there in 2009 and maybe beyond. smile.gif

Sorry C - I can't wait any longer, I've been asking for something like three/four months, and I've finally run out of patience. sad.gif

The Greenwich people are very enthusiastic, I've got myself 'affiliated' with them (means cheaper hire rates for a flat membership fee, and the rates were cheap anyway), and are looking forward to working with me. smile.gif
