Ah. The disguised central start?

Great Portland Street
SueHM
Too obvious?

Turnpike Lane

What do you make of that?
katyjay
Hmmm.....this could be complicated.

Ah! I have it! Finsbury Park
SueHM
Caledonian Road and Barnsbury

'nuff said.
katyjay
Oooh, you are sneaky.

I shall have to consider my options...

Osterley
SueHM

F F F Farringdon

Howzat?
katyjay
Well, it leaves me an unmissable opening....

MORNINGTON CRESCENT
SueHM
Gallions Reach

(Brazilian opening, McDougal variation)
katyjay
Crumbs! Haven't seen that played for a while.

City Thameslink? Or Oval? No, both too vulnerable.

Southwark
SueHM
No, no, no, you just don't get it, do you? Your next move should have been Plaistow, followed by All Saints, thus approaching from North North East (sighs)

I'll have to use the alternative middle game now

Arnos Grove
katyjay
Arnos Grove, eh?

Let's see how you like this one:

High Street Kensington
SueHM
I would concede in the face of overwhelming odds, but it's considered rather bad form.

Rotherhithe ill.gif
katyjay
East London line?

This calls for something drastic:Chancery Lane
SueHM
You're really getting into the swing of this, now. Time for a change of tactics...

Bromley-by-Bow

(note the transverse opposition)
katyjay
A transverse opposition!

I shall have to use the Hodgkins defence

Willesden Green
SueHM
Have you been reading Walliams' manual by any chance? The Hodgkin's is a favourite of his.

Goodge Street
katyjay
I haven't. But I might look it up before we play again.

In the mean time Warren Street

oops...have I just given that away? Will she spot the weak link?
SueHM
I'll let that one go, although it was a rather schoolboy error.

Maida Vale

Careful, there are several possible responses to this. Hint: Walliams pp26-31
katyjay
Maida Vale?

Got to be Fulham Broadway
SueHM
Mornington Crescent[u][i]

One all, time for bed goodNight.gif
katyjay
Well done.

I think that's my lot for this evening. Good night
Phil Dixon
I would like to suggest that we start the next game under the Lyttleton-Garden variation rules 1994 (as amended 2001). I'm sure you're all familiar with that.

OK? Right. I'll open with the standard 3rd diagonal gambit;

Pinner
superpyroman
I think that's a little too defensive. It means I'll have to go with Picadilly Circus and limits you to two moves next go, neither of which seem to give you much help in winning.
Car Expert
I'll continue the diagonal theme and head off to Borough.

Car Expert
SueHM
Tufnell Park
Phil Dixon
Ah, trying to use the Nogging conjecture are we?

Silvertown & London City Airport
SueHM
Mebbe, mebbe not, I'm saying nothing...except....

Boston Manor

Make of that what you will

Phil Dixon
Isn't that an illegal move? Surely you can't go outside the internal radius? Oh maybe not.

Sorry, you can't do that. You can go to Leicester square and have the same basic effect though.

I will go to Sloane Square
SueHM
The Finnish opening, know it well..

Caledonian Road + Barnsbury

SuwHM, with your clearly immense expertise of the game, can you enlighten me, if you begin with a Jubilee station as is generally recognised to be the best practice and someone goes to Picadilly Circus, how can you counter that? It seems that you have no control over any lines and so no moves would have any effect.
SueHM
I would recommend any Victoria Line station south of the river as a suitable riposte in this situation, taking due note of the Brixton group memorandum.

Bermondsey

I trust my intentions are perfectly clear
superpyroman
That makes sense I suppose.

Tower Gate An excellent station to possess.

It seems like you could be doing two things. Fortunately I've managed to counter them both.
Phil Dixon
Is the Brixton memorandum compatible with the Trumpington variation? I thought not.

Kensal Rise
SueHM
SPman, can't help noticing that you have once again played Tower Gate. You could be a little more adventurous I feel.

For instance...Lambeth North
superpyroman
You're just jealous because you didn't think of it tongue.gif

Leicester Square
SueHM
The Brixton memorandum was drafted with specific reference to the Trumpington variation. Unfortunately very few people have access to the full version of this document and consequently it is a little known pecadillo, of interest to professionals only.

You only said that very last bit because you won with it once didn't you biggrin.gif
SueHM
Moi?

As you know, I rarely comment on my methods. I offer these titbits only for your edification and for the good of THE GAME.
katyjay
Talking of the game, no-one has countered SPman's Leicester Square.

Unless someone else does, I'm joining this game at Canada Water
