Hello!!

I am 27 and have my Grade 5 Cornet and Grade 4 Theory from when I was at school. I want to do my Grade 5 Theory, then my Grade 6 Theory (just for the ###### of it!!) and then one of the written diplomas you can do.
Does anyone think this is possible for a woman of my age, and to be honest, worth it???

Thanks

Jude

Of course it's possible! If you read the post I've just made here, you can see I'm nearly twice your age and have a lot of exams still to do. smile.gif

goodness me! of course it's possible... you're not old - you are young.
the only danger is if YOU think you are old at 27.

and if you like and enjoy music, then of course there is a point go for it - and take your trumpet playing further too.

I think that you are probably already aware of what answer you will get subconsciously. I therefore won't give you one.

I hope you are not joking - too old at 27!!!!! You've barely started. There are loads of people on these forums twice your age (me included) who are taking exams (including Grade 1 exams) and doing it just because they enjoy it. I did Grade 1 descant recorder this year and intend to do some more. I've also only recently done Grade 6 and Grade 7 theory and hope to do Grade 8 and then a diploma sometime in the next couple of years. Go for it biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Developing musically is always a good thing whatever age you are. If you put a photo of yourself on here or your profile page, we could discuss your beauty too if you wish! wink.gif

Crikey, you're making me feel old now too ohmy.gif biggrin.gif. For what it's worth I did grade 6 theory at the very old age of 24 I'm sure that's close enough not to make much difference. I did grade 5 theory a few years before, aged 19, when I took up the piano, but I don't think that's much different from you having done grade 4 to be honest smile.gif. If you want to do it then it's worth it.

Now, as is the tradition on this forum can we persuade you to take up or re-start an instrument too wink.gif? Where's Miss Flute when you need her wink.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif.

Of course it's not too old! As to whether it's worth it, only you can decide, but I always think any musical development is worth it & it sounds like you want to do it.

Go for it!

Yes you are too old you silly old fool! I mean, 27! You are nearly as old as my nan!..... (That could well be true on the council estates around here wink.gif )

And no, of course you are not too old. Go for it smile.gif and then for some more biggrin.gif

N.B. The above statement mentioning council estates in no way is applicable to all council estate smile.gif

If you're too old, then I'm already dead and sending this from the spirit world! ph34r.gif

You might be too beautiful, of course, but we can't judge that! blink.gif

remember too that music isn't just about exams... it's for playing and enjoying and doing.... biggrin.gif

I met a tuba player a few years ago, guess he's about 30ish now, and he was amazing.. but if you asked him what grade he had on tuba, he would tell you Grade 3, because that was the point the decided he didn't want to do more exams!

Of course its worth it I did grade 5 theory piano at age 63 having only starting learning
at age 56 achieved 88 I have studied grade 6 with my teacher marking the past theory papers, but as I get older I get slower and find it difficult to do the papers in 3 hrs. So have stopped doing exams. I am now starting grade 7. You are only a youngster go for it. Practical I am only grade 3 or 4 elisabeth ann wub.gif note.gif
