Can anybody reccomend a trusted website for tracking people down.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Soph

Sounds stupid, but I always use myspace. I've found loads of people like that, my long lost(ish) cousins, and old friends I'd forgotten - you can sign up for an account without creating a page if you like...

I have tried myspace, and I already have an account. I just wondered if there was any where else I can use

Who are you looking for?

Work from when you last saw them. Find what email adress or username they used back then, and do google searches for them, checking any li8kely results. If necessary, work forwards in time from this, finding new usernames, adresses and interests to work from. Search for their accounts on Amazon and Ebay to see what they're doing on there.

And look on Friends Reunited if they're an adult. There are lots of people on there, but I don't know the adress, sorry... ph34r.gif

Some would find it disturbing that I know such a lot about finding things out about people... ph34r.gif ph34r.gif

To be fair, that isn't alot. And what you have said is common knowledge to alot of people.

I will post later...but I must get back to Star Wars biggrin.gif

Face book has also been unsuccessful. As far as we know America is where I need to be looking.

I can do better than that. It's practically all I do all day.

What about Bebo?
If you know where he used to live you might be able to work out which school he went to, or go through the nearest schools in the area.

He used to live here, so went to the same school I did. I have nothing to go on except what I said earlier in the thread which is why it is so complicated. Thanks for the suggestion though smile.gif

I'd like to find my older sister. She's quite clever and unlikely sort of person to use any of these sites.

I quite like facebook.com mainly cos its not over ridden with annoying 13 year olds who just add people willynilly to look like they have lots of freinds. I hate that!

I don't know if blog sites such as livejournal, xanga or blogger might help. You could try those. smile.gif

It's great to look for long-lost people but just a reminder that not all "lost "people actually want to be found.

A guy at church recently did manage to track down his long-lost brother and he was livid. He'd been trying to get away from his family for years and didn't appreciate his brother finding him. Result? Distress on all sides.

That is why, personally, I favour something like the Salvation Army or another of the groups that do this professionally and make careful checks to ensure everyone's happy with the notion of being put back in touch before it happens.

Not wanting to dampen your enthusiasm but just warning that, sometimes, these things don't turn out quite as you'd hoped. sad.gif

I know that my brother might not want to hear from us and some of our family feel that way towards him. I just wanted to be able to find out roughly where he is and if he is ok.
