Does anyone have any suggestions for a book of pieces around grade 6 standard (or a little harder) which I could use for Diploma sightreading practice? They just need to be regular pieces really, I suppose a varied collection would be best. I'm running out of past exam pieces and it would be nice to carry on sring pieces rather than orchestral stuff as it's much more realistic. And fun.

If you don't have it already Classical and Romantic Pieces for violin and piano, Book 4 by Watson Forbes is around grade 5-6 standard. It might be a bit easy, but the pieces are really nice.

Alternatively you could look for intermediate/advanced books on this site.

Good luck with your diploma.

I used to find that string quartet playing really helped my sight reading.

The latest 'Selected Exam Pieces Grade 6' book??

I've been through almost every G6 ABRSM book since 1980, and a good few Trinity ones too smile.gif

Petrat, I agree, it's much more useful than orchestral playing where you can blag sightreading if necessary!

Alison, thanks, I think my sister used that at some point so I'll see if she still has it.
