Let to-day be happy and the year a good one for you

Thank you all ever so much. I am genuinely touched by this. It has made my day that people care.

I'm very very upset and I went to bed in tears last night because I invited my 6 BEST friends to a quasar party today that my mum had paid for in advance. Because it's not local and because my mum doesn't drive she offered to take us all on the bus and a time and meeting place was agreed by everyone. Last night one friend is on msn saying that none of them are going because they're going to a football match. Well my mum's upset because no one had the decency to stop her going to the allocated meeting place and no one's phoned to say they're cancelling. This is no prank. Seriously they're all going to football and leaving me on my 13th birthday with no one coming to my party that's already been paid for. I couldn't believe that they'd leave it until 10pm last night and then just mention it on msn. So as you can imagine, I'm not very happy this morning, but I am absolutely over the moon by your responses. It has meant the world to me.

My sister and her boyfriend are coming to quasar with me at lunch time to try and make the best of this and we're going to eat their share of cake !!!!! These were my BEST friends. The friends I really wanted to share my day with. I requested no presents from them for my birthday, just to see them was all I wanted.

Ah...that's really a big let down, and not good behaviour from so-called friends.

Still, we are your friends on here, and I'm glad we could help brighten your day. I hope you still manage to enjoy yourself at the quasar place.

I was very sad to read your post. But that's the sort of thing I'd expect from many boys our age. I can imagine quite a lot of boys in school who will just take a party for granted and forget to give advanced notice that they can't make it for the party. There is this callousness, a kind of selfishness that I find puzzling. Apparently we will all become more considerate as we get older. That's what I've learnt from my parents. It's best not to quarrel with your six friends. I'm sure they don't mean to be so nasty.

But you are lucky. You have a lovely sister and a wonderful family. I am an only child and although my parents are wonderful, I have no real companion my age and it can get awfully lonely at times.

Skylark, thank you. My own Peugeot Quasar. Fantastic. I shall treasure that. Oh, by the way I think I've had too much cake thanks all the same! I have to watch my weight. I'm 4 and a half stone and would like to keep it that way for now in training for next year's Mini London Marathon. (See my profile pic)

Actually today was fun. I made friends with two boys I didn't know and with my sister, Lauren, and boyfriend Ben, all five of us had so much fun at quasar. To be honest, it was sooooo much better without the other so called friends, and we really enjoyed drinking their drink and eating their chips.

I'm gonna allow myself another glass of lemonade and toast you all for your kindness.
