Hi, it's time to renew our home insurance and we have 2 problems:
The company we are with have suddenly increased our premium and we are now struggling to afford it, and
I have 19 private pupils at home so would have to ensure that the company we used would cover us for the business use as well.
I have done a search of this site and although similar issues have come up before, I can't find a suitable firm to do this for us. I understand if we are not allowed to name names here - if anyone has any ideas, could they please pm me? BTW my house is worth about £200,000 and my instruments are already insured by a specialist company.
Thank you!

have you tried comparison sites to get an idea
confused.com has been really good for me. I think moneysupermarket.co.uk also offers comparisons. Saves you trying a million different companies. When you have the quotes, try it in the actual companies site to make sure there is no difference.

Thank you for all the ideas - I had quite a lot of pm's and have tried some of the suggested companies - now have a quote I can manage, with a company who definitely knows about the pupils, and also the names of half a dozen other places to try in the future. Everyone's input has saved me several frustrated evenings on the phone, only to be told that I am uninsurable due to the business, so WELL DONE boardies! I love this forum, it's so helpful.

I recently decided to get a number of quotes, rather than just renew our house policies. I soon realized that it was not quite so simple as I had originally thought, due to the fact that the cover was often significantly different when you looked at the small print. If its not too late, I would advise you to look at the differences in small print very carefully!
