biggrin.gif I was in Sydney recently and went to the Lyric Theatre in Sydney's Casino to see the stage show version of 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert'.

I just can't describe how brilliant it was!! party1.gif

It was so utterly camped-up, full of eighties music, brilliantly acted and the costumes were totally Out of This World ( a cliche I know but they were that good ). I was in stitches for hours! I would absolutely LOVE to see the whole show again but they're only on in Australia and I can't get back there soon enough tongue.gif

Now I'm home in the UK my dear husband bought me the film (1994 with Guy Pearce and Terrance Stamp) and it's hilarious but not as good as the stage show. Tonight I have ordered the soundtrack CD from the stage show from Australia and am looking forward to it arriving.

I'm probably the only person on earth who has NOT seen 'Cats' and in fact the last stage show I saw was when I was 13... we're not into 'musical' shows as a family. But I'm beginning to think I'm missing out on all these huge, lavish productions and would love to have seen 'The Lion King' because I believe the staging and costumes were magnificent.

So what are your favourites?

Rent! Also Les Miserables, and Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge and Oklahoma and Sweeney Todd... umm yeah...

I love all musicals, but Rent is absolutely 100% my favourite.

Favourite of the moment has to be "The Producers" - the film version stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

It's a re-make (by Mel Brooks) of his original show way back in the early '70's which had ONE musical number, but this new version is a full blown musical.
The songs and dance routines are OUT OF THIS WORLD, and very much in the traditional Hollywood Musical style, but VERY over the top. The whole thing is making fun of "The musical".
It's a "must see"!

I'm loving the film Hairspray at the moment! Never seen it on stage though.

The Lion King on stage is amazing. The costumes are so colourful. biggrin.gif

I'm going to New York in November with school and we are going to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Can't wait!
