Hi, I'm new to this forum.
Does anyone know what mark constitutes being classed as a "high scorer"? I have been reading on this website that there are such things as "high scorers" concerts in the USA etc but nothing is ever mentioned about this in the UK.

Hi and welcome!

I think I've heard it's over 140, but I may be wrong. I expect someone will come up with more reliable information before long. smile.gif

The Sunbury branch of the ABRSM puts on regular 'high achievers' (I think they call them) concerts. I think they invite people who were awarded Distinction so 130 would be the necessary mark.

I get the impression that some places have high scorers concerts and some don't.
Also that who is invited might not be by a predetermined mark with maybe the top so many being invited.
I don't think they have them at the centre I use.

If you want to know what the situation is in your area go to

http://www.abrsm.org/?page=regions/uk/eng/reps.html

Click on your county then give your local rep a call.

I went to a concert for the Lloyd Hartley people who won Lloyd Hartley prizes for the best mark in their area! I had won two in one year wink.gif

Does that constitute a high scorers' concert?

Not quite. 137 at grade 5 got me an invite, 130 at grade 8 didn`t. And not every venue does one = where I took my grade 7 recorder did't, which is a shame as I suspect my 140 would have been sufficient...

I've never heard of a high scorers concert near me. I wonder if high scores at any grade suffice or if they invite G5+. I suppose it must depend on local reps and stuff.

There's a list of High Scorers venues in the latest issue of 'Libretto'.
