As some of us expressed an interest in participating in a Kodaly Workshop (
modulating) just at the start of the summer holidays, I think it is probably time to start finding out who would like to be included.
I spoke to Cyrilla a few weeks ago and agreed that I would start a new thread to see how many of you are still interested. Emma mentioned the possibility of a free venue and now that the summer holidays are nearing an end I will see if I can find a free venue in my area.
If you are still interested please send me a private message so that we can start to talk about dates. I would be keen to go for the October break (last week in October I think) if this was okay with Cyrilla but can certainly compromise to fit in with the majority.
Anyone still interested?

Thanks Emma C. Your venue may be needed but first of all I will have to see who's interested and where they all live. Hopefully that won't take too long. The date of the workshop will probably be down to when Cyrilla is available.

Just click on the "PM" button at the bottom of someone's post to send them a message.

I'd forgotten to post a reply here before, but I think most people know I'm interested anyway.
As reguards dates, my half term is Sat 23rd till Sun 31st October~ but if this isn't convinient for anybody/everybody else, I might just be able to get my college to let me have the day off as an 'educational activity' of sorts!!

Half term wouldn't be too good for me as I'm away for most of it.

Some of us live in the South West but are still nearly three hours away!!!
We're used to all this travel.... used to be nearly an hour to the nearest big town where I lived before. Such a shopping nightmare for us girlies....
Perhaps we might see you after all???

I will be in Exeter this weekend visiting my daughter - do any of you live round there?
If you do I recommend the cathedral evensong at 3pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday, both of which I will be attending as my little girl is a chorister and she is being installed on Sunday.

How exciting!!! Hope it goes well.
Does Exeter have a mixed choir now, or a separate girls choir?

They have separate boys and girls choirs, using the same men. The boys do about five services a week, and the girls do three - every Monday and then some weekend services. The only time the boys and girls sing together is for special services or concerts. I am quite new to this all but it is amazing what children so young can do - when you think they are aged from 8 years to 13 and they are singing repertoire which adult choirs often struggle with - I can only presume that they learn a lot of it by listening to the older ones next to them - a bit like one big Kodaly workshop really!

It is amazing isn't it. We are very blessed with a fantastic choir here at Truro Cathedral. It really is a joy to listen to. But when they were on holiday a mixed Cathedral choir from up country sang for the service, and it wasn't half as good. At a recent concert they sang some amaxing stuff, in Latin, English, German - nothing seemed to be a problem. And I think they get a wonderful musical education too. But such hard work.
I don't want to get into the boys sing better than girls argument - I think they are both good but different. I'd love to hear the girls sing one day - maybe one Monday I'll tie in a shopping trip and Cathedral evensong... no girls choir here I'm afraid.

Sorry about the delay everyone - I am still trying to organise this. I've sent pm's to everyone re dates and venue. Still looking for more people though so if there's anyone else reading this and interested then send me a private message and I'll send you the dates and venue details.
