I was wondering if I could find a site that list information about a correctly played viola. Its hard to explain (When your tired lol) but something that looks like this cello site http://www.cello.org/Cello_Introduction/Ce...troduction.html

Thank you in advance.

Oh Elisabeth - what have you done to me!!!!! laugh.gif I was lying in bed last night thinking about violas and the beautiful sound they make. I'd decided to ask my teacher if I could try her one again at my lesson tonight. And now here I am, at the crack of breakfast, sitting in front of my computer drooling over a VIOLA website!!! rolleyes.gif

I can tell I'm now going to try and find out a little about repertoire and recordings etc.....

What's happening to me??? I play the violin... I can't be defecting already... wacko.gif

Plus I can't afford to buy a viola anyway and it would have to be a tiny one ( do they come in 'tiny'?)

The last thing I need is a new instrument - next thing I'll be asking for a pony....

Well done on your epiphany, Lottie. Don't resist!
I wouldn't recommend an instrument smaller than 15.5", you're gonna compromise tone and a decent C string sound. I suggest checking out ebay for some great bargains on violas.
Good luck!

Why not go the whole hog and get a cello too?

You know you want to...

Hmmm, well a cello makes a good piece of furniture. Ikea should start making them. Coffee table maybe? laugh.gif

I am thoroughly and wontonly unrepentant!!! laugh.gif If I knew this site would have tempted more violinists, I would have posted it earlier!!! Seriously though, at the forum concert day I took part in back in June, the young man I was sharing a rehearsal room with played violin and we had a go on each others' instruments. He said 'This is nice!' Violas are lovely animals! wub.gif

Yup, you can get them as small as 13.5", but as miviola rightly said, you wouldn't want one smaller than 15.5", which is the 'normal' ladies size and is the first size I think actually looks like a viola!! I tried a 15" one once and it was just SO much smaller. They don't have to be expensive. I only paid £200 for mine, complete with nice case and bow and Elida do some great outfits for a good price as well. Don't even try to resist, you know you'll give in soon........... biggrin.gif tongue.gif
