Inspired by Looneytunes and her first post thread! What can we remember of our wonderful history?

For instance, I remember the huge crash that disassociated all the members from their numbers and left all the posts before it unregistered...
And I remember creating the New Members and Games zones!

What else do we remember?

So much nostalgia......"The Great Crash" is something that I've heard referred to several times but sadly I wasn't around to experience it.............

Was it a traumatic experience for you, bobifier? Would you like to talk about it?

Oooh ooh! That day when the forums were normal in the morning, then about 11 o'clock ish, THE FORUMS CAFE WAS CREATED and Mr B posted the CISD thread and we all wandered in to drink tea and and ... it all went downhill from there.

And when Nick 'proposed' in CISD.

And when the story thread first started and everyone got insanely addicted to it, and I tried to print it all off and ended up with 25 pages worth of utter rubbish.

ooooh and I remember when I first got Noodelz hooked on Hisaishi.

'Twas a big event! There were tremors leading up to it, and every so often the alternative fora would be bombarded with threads asking if ABRSM was down again.

Isn't it great what a history we have! And it automatically records itself!

Makes current 'discussions' seem tame by comparison!

Blocked, eventually, wasn't he? I did think it was funny when everyone hated him, then he left, then he came back and everyone said how marvellously spiffing it was to see him again!

Oooh and I remember when the viva forums (or was it just viva piano, I didn't go n the other ones)... kled to a different place and had a different background thing.

Coming from you - no! We all know you love theory - and I'm starting to enjoy it too! As I've yet to take an exam, I don't feel quite able to join your club yet......strange that I feel I need a piece of paper to join

Oh and the awesome aural thread, how could I forget? Okay, I'm rather sad. Is it just coincidental that all the most entertaining threads eventually get closed...

I'm only a minor player. The main protagonists have tended to leave...

That was around the time I joined and I was terrified of saying the wrong thing and getting up somebody's nose! I did manage, though, in the Adult Learners' forum, but the less said about that the better...

I remember the organ forum being set up; I used to really laugh at some of the conversations between mrb and GC just prior to that.

Does anybody remember the 'Your inbox is full, noodle' thread (or something like that)? It was late at night and turned into a fast-moving classic with everyone speaking in Shakespeare language. It was deleted by the morning - and I never understood why.

Oh! I loved that thread - I was so annoyed when they deleted it, it was hilarious AND witty...

And just before 'the Great Crash', it was always too many connections, too many connections, too many connections...

Wasn't really all that wonderful, the 'Great Crash'.....



That was a funny thread - I remember saying at the time that it ought to have been resurrected...

The Great Crash feels comparatively recent in forum time to me - so I must be getting old!

I remember getting into a fairly strong disagreement with DavidMusic over practising exam-style sight reading not long after I joined the forums. Anyone else remember him ? he moved away I think and I'm not sure if he's still around- or maybe under another name. Anyway it was all resolved amicably.

I vaguely remember DavidMusic, I think I overlapped with him by about a week or something!

I think I arrived just before the Great Crash- but I didn't go on much at the beginning as school blocked the forums for being *****graphic (not the auto-censor, just me!) when somebody invaded the forums and started posting offensive topics in every place possible- why was I so stupid to click on them?

The first thing I remember on the forums, was when David Music was posting about whether someone he knew should do grade 8 in something they'd been learning for not very long, which it transpired was Nat, and I remember being very scared of saying anything!

Yep, I arrived a couple of months after!

Do we even know what happened to do the forum such nasties? It would have been interesting to see who got where if the post counts had all been set to zero...

It owuld certainly have given us newer people a chance to catch up!
