Is anyone preparing the grade 5 exam pieces 2007-2008 (B:1) La Chevaleresque by J.F.F. Burgmuller? Is petal needed in this piece especially for Bar 17 to 24?

I don't think this piece needs any pedal at all. In the section you've mentioned, the LH held notes provide some sustaining anyway, and the RH can then remain clear and 'smoothly sparkling' - pedalled it all becomes a bit too murky, IMO.

I played this piece a while back and didnt use pedal at all.
