For years I have been composing pieces for my students to play and I now have quite a collection of tunes from beginner to about grade 4 standard. I am not formally trained as a composer but my students really seem to enjoy my pieces so I assume others would as well!

I have trying to search the internet for information regarding getting my pieces published however advice tends to be quite broad and really unhelpful. I have found the addresses of UK publishing companies that accept unsolicitered mail but I have no idea about the best ways to actually present my work.

Obviously a printed score and a recording are essential, but then there are the questions of how many works should I send? Would they want information on how i imagine the works being presented once they're published? Notes about the inspiration behind the pieces and the technical problems for students to master within them?

If there is anyone out there has experience in this area, either as a composer or a publisher, I would love some advice!

Sorry, I just realised this should have been posted in the composition forum blush.gif
