If anyone out there is doing G3 Piano (Bonny Bobby Bluetoe), can they clarify pedalling at Bars 18-20? Bar 17 is clear enough in that you use the soft pedal but do you use the loud or soft pedal at Bar 18? The indications are the loud pedal but what is confusing me is the tre corde at the end of Bar 20. I undertand tre corde to mean release the soft pedal.

Also do you lift the pedal slightly at the points indicated on the pedal 'line'....if you know what I mean blink.gif

Also on a totally different topic, at Section D in the Aural, will the examiner play the piece twice before he asks you the questions?

Many thanks - hope the above makes sense!

It's called the sustaining pedal by the way - not the 'loud' pedal ohmy.gif !!

You put down the soft pedal at bar 17 (where it says 'una corda') together with the sustaining pedal. Then keep the soft pedal down all the way to the beginning of bar 21, but change the sustaining pedal as directed by the up-and-down bits.

In section D in the aurals, the piece/extract will only be played once, but at this grade the examiner will state the topics he/she will be asking about before he/she begins to play. smile.gif

Thanks Jo.clarinet - I've certainly learnt something new today!
