Speaking as someone who has spent a lot of time in homewear departments of late, looking at things I can't afford, like pretty table clothes, and non-mouldy curtains (!!)... you can still buy flannelette-type bedding. As to whether anyone can afford it...

Personallly I get kinda passionate about white percale. Not that I can afford that either.

I can't find any navy trousers. sad.gif I also can't find a navy skirt to buy instead of trousers. Nope. M&S had navy jeans (as did some of the other places) but I was after something smarter than that. This year's Autumn colours really aren't convincing me and some places have already switched to winter which really isn't my season. New Look had two styles of navy trousers and I tried them on but they were baggy in weird places. I'm a little bit concerned that I might have to wait until Spring...

Is it me or have the fashions suddenly gone very 80s though? I've been trying to find some pieces to restock my work wardrobe, which is getting a little tatty for smartness (alot of it got swapped into my uni-wardrobe for most of this year) but have been really struggling to find things I like. I'm so very pear shaped that all this billowing drapey stuff hangs around making me look like a blob with legs. I need things that show off my small waist, not hide it! I'm also suffering from being Size 11, or rather 10 on the top and 12 at the bottom. I quite like some of the smart little dresses that are fairly work suitable, but they're either too big at the top, or too tight round the bottom.

Suddenly?! It must be a while since you went clothes shopping! You obviously haven't noticed the baggy / bat-wing jumpers, leggings with skirts, leg warmers, fingerless gloves, bright colours, pointy shoes and skinny jeans that everyone under the age of 25 (or possibly 30?) has been wearing for the last few years! tongue.gif Apparently DMs are back in fasion, too.

Sounds familiar, except I'm bigger on top. It's so frustrating! I use belts quite a lot, like with baggy tops to cinch in my waist a bit and stop me looking like some sort of waddling marshmallow. I like those sorts of dresses too, but need to go up about 2 sizes just to accommodate certain things ph34r.gif, and then they end up far too big everywhere else. rolleyes.gif

I turned into a total hermit during the final year of my degree! Didn't see anything but campus, hotels while at assessment centres, my bedroom and the study for months on end. Since that finished, I've been broke...

But yes, I had noticed the leggings. I just wouldn't be seen dead in them. I'll be opting out of being fashionable for the foreseeable future, I think! (Not that I ever was in the first place, but we can overlook that...)

If you post in the same thread twice in a row in 10 minutes, the posts will merge (assuming no-one else has posted in between).

Probably in an attempt to keep post counts down wink.gif

It can be confusing if the same member posts several comments one after another, so merging posts together makes it clearer who is saying what; even if the meaning of what is being said can be lost - if that makes sense?

Post merging also encourages people to think about what they are saying, and to say it in one post, rather than just posting one thing after another.

The post editing function on this forum seems to work forever, (which I like), so it would be easier to edit your previous post rather than adding new ones.

If anything needs fixing around here, it is the inability to post certain characters, such as the pound sign (equally the Euro and Dollar signs), which always show up as '?' Thankfully, apostrophes and inverted commas now seem to work most of the time.

I've only done it (I think) when I've been quoting two separate people or making two separate points, so it's not a matter of thinking about what I'm saying to make it more concise; the two comments are discrete.

I agree; when quoting different people it is acceptable to post two or more replies, but I have been on forums where one individual rambles on, sometimes posting five or six times in a row, and that can be confusing.

It doesn't help that the forum in question only allows a very short editing time (three minutes I think), so it is next to impossible to add text to a post.

Half day off work and the house to myself for the first time in 6 and a half weeks!

I managed to play the flute without a small annoying person holding the tuner in front of me complaining that I'm "Sharp enough to be flat!" - and have now settled down to a solid hour of 'autumn cleaning.'

Which is, of course, why I'm hanging around here instead.

We are a bit out in the sticks here, but we used to get our mail before 8 am every day. (I am sure Postie had a day job somewhere.) It now arrives mid afternoon. Even Special Delivery doesn't arrive until well after the 13.00 Hrs guarantee.

We often seem to go a day or two without any mail, and then get a shedload, including First Class mail from several days previously. So I suspect our daily delivery is long gone. sad.gif
