What's wrong with mushy? Don't you mush up your ginger cake in the custard?

But gravy on a yorkshire pudding would make that soggy too... A little gravy dabbed on a yorkshiire pud before eating makes it tasty, though, rather than mushy.
How can you not have gravy on yorkshire pudding.

They're at their best when filled with gravy... (especially onion gravy).

Ok, well one day last week we visited a family member in the west midlands, and had tea at a country park/ retail outlet sort of place.
We all had carrot cake - which was very nice - except to serve it, the waitress squirted caramel sauce in squiggles all over the plate before placing the cake on top.
The cake was fine, but I didn't particularly like the caramel sauce with it.

The best drink "spike" I've heard of is to replace someone's pint of lager with a pint of water into which has been put a very small amount (several drops) of Guinness. It looks the same as lager but it tastes like plain water, and when the recipient takes a big mouthful expecting lager taste but gets water, the reaction is usually instinctively to spew it all out.

In my uni days at Nottingham (about 1966) someone gave a recital of Cage's work including various items for 'prepared' piano etc.
The 4' 33" was included.
The signal he had started was opening the piano lid, and the end was closing the piano lid. A clock sat on the piano top.
Must check when this was composed !
Later edit, it was 1952. Couldnt have taken him very long. I reckon I could compose a piece in less time than that !

Reminds me of something I saw at the boat show itself - one year, they had the HMS Exeter tied up off the exhibition centre. Now at this show there were some quite swanky yachts which we went to traipse around and marvel at the tastelessness. most of them had little snooty cards on the white leather seats that said "Please do not sit" (so we didn't). Then we went up the Exeter, and there were excited little kids everywhere - including pointing the gun at whatever and sitting in the captain's chair and riffling through what looked like a logbook.
It was heartwarming in a way
