Conversation with another mother this morning - consoling ourselves that at the end of a day it's so easy to feel you've achieved nothing if you haven't ticked something off The List. So she had the bright idea that we mothers "do" Maintenance - ie if we weren't there to do the things we do for the family in general chaos would ensue.
So by the end of today, as well as teaching 6 lessons I shall happily think of myself as having done "Maintenance". Good thought. Am going to adopt it as a philosophy of life.

Good thought!
And of course brings to mind that story which I'm sure you've heard: dad comes home to a chaotic, dirty house, with rubbish everywhere and the three kids running riot. Dirty washing up piled in the sink, dirty washing all over the floor, toys absolutely everywhere. Concerned, dad goes in search of mum and finds her reading in the garden.
'What on earth is going on?'
'Nothing!' (with a smile) 'Everything's fine'.
"But the mess and muddle everywhere - why?'
'Oh, well you know you always say you wonder what I do all day?
Well today I didn't do it'.
