I've just taken a load of washing out of the machine. Despite the fact that all the clothes are dark - and there was nothing in the pockets - I noticed when hanging them out on the clothesline that they're all covered in white bits of fluff. Why? What? How?
And can I do anything about it other than to put the whole blessed lot through the machine again and hope for a better outcome next time?

Your machine hates you!
There was perhaps a tissue up a sleeve that went unseen. Rather than wash them all again you could get a fluff removing brush and try that. Sometimes a few minutes in the tumble dryer will get rid of it and sometimes it seems to glue it in place even more strongly. You may just have to go fluffy for a few days until wash day cometh again. Just cultivate an air of eccentricity and no one will notice.

I've just remembered something weird that once happened
When my boyfriend and me spent the first night at the house we live in now (I think it was actually before we really moved in) we went to sleep on the double bed and woke up the next morning to find that we swapped sides

I do not *do* snotty tissues up sleeves - eugh!
The penny dropped this afternoon! The last time the machine was used, it was to wash some fluffy white bathmats....
The cultivating of an air of eccentricity should not be too hard to manage....

My brother got up this morning and went off to catch the school bus. He was back home ten minutes later because the bus (and other people) was nowhere to be seen. He'd come to the conclusion that school was cancelled because of the snow. Then my Dad pointed out that the calendar said that he wasn't meant to go back till tomorrow

Cue my brother having a go at everyone else for not telling him not to get up and going off in a strop - you'd have thought he'd be grateful for the extra day!

There's been a good - albeit cold - drying breeze today, which has just about done the trick. The radiators will do the rest!

Cherryade? Blood? Cough mixture? Rust?
Might be worth finding out - your mother might enquire when trying to remove the stain from your tee-shirt.

Back in the office today for the first time since Xmas Eve.
Have spent most of the morning tidying stuff and rearranging.
Somebody stole my chair, though. Fair enough, it was falling apart, so I suspect site operations have come round over the break and replaced all the worn out chairs. But my new chair isn't right. I know i have to play with it to get it right but it's really difficult to do and in any case it still won't be my old comfy chair (with the unravelling seat which spilled foam everywhere).
Oh well. Oh, and I got to take the Xmas tree down! There are two of us who are usually guilty of putting the tree up. I was on a course Monday/Tuesday and not back in the office until today. The other lady is now on maternity leave. So one of our colleagues volunteered to take it down. Only she is off sick. So none of the other 20 people bothered!
Oh, er, the seat of my chair has just gone flying fowards. I think I need to go and play with the levers...

Seeing "throw a shoe at Bush" in Game Zone reminds me of the news of that incident. In almost every reports I've came across, there were mentionings that throwing a shoe at somebody was considered an insult in the Middle East/Arab/Muslim world. I did (and still do) wonder where it's considered an affectionate gesture
