It's when you dilute stuff in a series. Say I wanted to make up a very dilute solution of something, I might not be able to weight out a very small amount of the chemical to make it up.
So I make up a higher concentration. Then I take a bit of that and dilute it further. Then a bit of that and dilute again.
Does that make sense

Sounds like homeopathy! I've read that some of their solutions are so dilute they might not contain more than a very few molecules of the substance!

Or even none at all - just some sort of chemical memory - complete mumbo-jumbo IMO.

Got in to work, doing stuff, colleague comes over and asks if I've heard the news that the head of our therapeutic area has died (he's based in the US, so the news broke last night after we'd all gone home from work). No, I haven't, as strictly I'm not in the therapeutic area reporting line any more and I don't get all the info. Anyway, v.unexpected, young man, so all a bit surprised.
Then for some unknown reason I put his name in Google just to see, and he's come up as a news story - murder-suicide by his partner.
We've all just been called to an urgent meeting (unsurprisingly).
So we're all just kind of sitting here utterly...well, utterly somthing...can't concentrate, just all lost. A few years ago there was a sudden death in our therapeutic area, due to natural causes, and we all just had several days of utter bemusement. This is just...well...bemusment and gob-smacked-ness all in one.
Suddenly having spent all morning being Completely Terrified about having my first music lesson in 17 years tonight is just silly...

Sudden deaths for what ever reason come as a shock.
This is news of a third sudden death this week I have had. So for me it is sort of "good" as they always come in threes.
Enjoy your music lesson, I had my first one in 46 years back in November and now really enjoy them.

I put my journey from work to music lesson in to Google maps - 19.2 miles, 37 minutes.
Being me and the sort of person who double-triple-quadruple checks everything, I put it in to Mapquest to see if they suggested a different route. They suggested the same route. But said it would take 25 minutes
Now, I know it's going to depend on traffic conditions, etc, but it seems quite strange that one places suggests it take 50% longer than the other place!
So I put it in to the AA route-planner, who said a route couldn't be found

The RAC route planner just crashed on me. Then Multimap went for 35 minutes, on the same route!
Not that I care, I'm leaving the office at 4pm, which means driving off site at about 4.05pm, to be there by 5pm. So I shouldn't be late (I'm happy to be parked outside and sat in my car for 30 minutes, especially for a first meeting).
Getting increasingly nervous now...

I remember at primary school the date becoming 23/4/56.
The teacher asked us when this would happen again (we were 9 yrs old at the time). It didnt take long to get 12/3/45 but since we were all born in 1946 or 47, most of us would be dead by then. 1/2/34 comes before, but is only 4 digits, as is 2/3/45, and 3/4/56.

I think I've asked every single Christian I know about a million questions about where to find certain quotes in the bible today, for an essay I'm writing (the second in the term on this subject). Would anyone be weirded out by that? It seemed a bit strange to be going over facebook to, for example, a girl who helped me out in my first term at uni, with finding places and stuff, who I barely speak to "Hi! How are you? And by the way, where does the phrase "born into sin" come from?" (Psalms 51:5, apparently).
*Edit* Have read this post lots of times and can find nothing to offend, but if someone finds something, do let me know by PM and I'll just delete it. Don't post on here if it causes offence.

My tutor told me to completely eliminate a term from my essays, as I used it too often. I duly took it out, but apparently just mentally replaced it with a different one, and having just reread, before my tutorial, it appears that I have used the same word seventeen times. That's 2.9 times per page.
Fabulous. I wonder if she won't notice...
