I get called Laura. It isn't entirely dissimilar to my real name, but I get called Laura by several different people, all of whom are in separate parts of my life so they can't all be thinking of the same Laura. Once when I complained someone said to me "what's the problem, Laura's a nice name", "Yes", I replied, "but it's not my name!".

I guess I must look like a Laura.

When people listen to 'Dance of the Knights' by Prokofiev, do people think 'aah, that's a nice piece of Prokofiev' or 'aah, that's the theme tune to The Apprentice'?...
fsharpminor
I didnt even know it was Prokofiev ! Darn it, I forgot to watch last night sad.gif And I was alone in a hotel.
Maizie
When I first heard The Dance of the Knights, it was at a dance show. I went to the 'modern' dance classes, but there was a ballet class before that. So it was the end of year, show off to the parents show. I didn't know the music then...strangely, when I hear it now, I don't think of what it is, but I always see in my head the opening movement of the dance. Even more strangely, I actually only remember the first move, and nothing more biggrin.gif

I was with a group of friends watching The Apprentice and only me and someone else knew the name to the Dance of the Knights!

It's Dance of the Knights from Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev.
BerkshireMum
Must confess, I didn't know it was called the Dance of the Knights - I've always thought of it as "Montagues and Capulets".

I think if you've heard the music before watching the programme, for you it would always be from Romeo & Juliet. On the other hand, for me Spartacus is always "The Onedin Line" because I heard it first on the TV programme.

In general, I'm very bad about recognising theme tunes, although even I can manage Coronation Street and University Challenge!

When I had a season ticket at Portsmouth (before they were in the Premier league) they always played Montagues and Capulets just before the players ran out so that's where I know it from!

Recently, we feel faint nostalgia in the period people and things used to be lively.

Why don't you go through the time travel to get the stir in the good old days?

When I first heard the Apprentice theme tune I thought 'Oooh, they chose that nice Prokofiev piece'. I've only ever heard it be called 'Montagues and Capulets' though.

Actually...they both have the same theme:

Ah, that explains it. It's strange though that, having listened to both of them one after the other that I'm pretty sure that the version I have on CD is actually dance of the Knights, although it's listed as Montagues and Capulets. blink.gif

The Classic FM website says it was 6th last year too (but 4th the year before that). The top 6 haven't moved around at all. The top 11 are the same but 7 and 8 and 9 and 10 have swapped round.
