and the rules are fairly minimal too
I really like playing snooker, though I haven't for ages. At various pubs throughout my youth, and in the college bar, we had a bar billiards table - I loved that. One of the pubs in our village had a bb table when we moved here, but it went a couple of years ago, to make room for more seating

Pool's fun, but tonight I was playing with a guy who's on the uni pool team. That was odd - the table was cleared within five minutes - even when it was him against the other five of us.
I'm completely useless, of course. People on the other team tend to try to set me up, just to help me out and be sporting. Apparently it's just too cruel if you really try to beat someone as terrible as me.

a group of friends at college used to sometimes go to the FH for the wrestling. Bit of a laugh. My room-mate, who was a first study singer at RCM, got into conversation with a little old lady one day in the box-office queue: little old lady ( I abbreviated that to LOL but it didn't really work!) was charmed to hear she was a music student and they talked for a few minutes about their favourite classical pieces etc etc.
Imagine the shock when my friend got to the ticket window and was heard to say ' 6 tickets for the wrestling please! '
Ah, Dearest Granny used to love the wrestling on telly too!! AND she saw it at the FH several times, I believe...I think the audience WAS mostly grannies with handbags...!

Yes, my husband's grandmother watched the wrestling avidly. She was once heard to mutter 'I don't like them Giant Haystacks, though'.
My late mum was the snooker fanatic, with Steve Davis her hero.

First, the news that a girl I was in primary school with has died at the age of 14. Then talking to HC and hearing one of the most sickening things imaginable. And finally, a man telling me in explicit detail how he's going to shoot his dog in the same way as he shot the last 4 of them.

Not sure exactly, but my theory is that they can't not let you in on the basis that you couldn't take the exam.
I've just found a jar of pickle at the back of a cupboard which has obviously been there a LONG time. I was looking for its date, but it doesn't seem to have one. I'm now intrigued as to how old this pot actually is - my mum says it definitely isn't more than 27 years old, because they defintitely didn't have it before they were married! Does anyone know when use by dates started being used?
