I think my new obsession is going to be chickens!!!

I cuddled one today: a 'rescue' battery hen all fat and happy now. wub.gif I've ear-marked a corner of the garden big enough for a run and coup. biggrin.gif They chuckle at you if you hand-feed them oatcakes wub.gif

I don't honestly know if your hands will be big enough. unsure.gif My clari isn't the best in this respect, because it's quite old and keywork designs have improved a lot - but I find my clari a bit of a stretch for a couple of the keys. You need to be able to cover the holes completely on the clari.

Can you reach okay on a treble recorder?

just about...

This is my worry too. Barry reckons I'd be ok, but I do have my doubts. Guess we'll find out at Leeds!

You should be fine. I find treble a bit of a stretch on the right hand but manage fine on clarinet. Some makes favour the smaller handed better than others, the only area I've had difficulty with are the extra Eb/G# key added to some clarinets, the LH F#/C# on some instruments and occaisionally covering the whole of the bottom G hole as my fingers are thin as well as short.

Do you have really tiny hands? I could span all the keys on my clarinet (a really old buffet or boosey and hawkes thing that had not been entirely well looked after to start - schhol's instrument - and after a Yamaha student one) at the age of 9/10 ish unsure.gif

Umm, yep I have tiny hands. blush.gif I can manage flute ok, and treble recorder just about depending on how I've put on the footjoint. laugh.gif

I wouldn't mind having so much stuff to do, if only instead of all of them being 'urgent' someone would actually take the time to tell me which is MOST urgent.
(There's a meeting this afternoon - I will demand answers then as to what order they want things addressed in!)

Skylark says she favours the LeBlanc because the keywork suits small hands (I think unsure.gif that was why anyway - check out my old thread about upgrading (July 08) as she mentioned it on there smile.gif ) It really did NOT suit me anyway wacko.gif

Expensive... sad.gif

I could get a basic one for less than my current concert flute cost, but they are still expensive.

If my old concert flute sold (it's currently on the second hand listing at the shop where I bought my new one) then I would be able to put the money together...

I need to take my flute back down to the shop in the next few weeks to get it a service done while its still under warranty. I'm thinking of trying out alto flutes at the same time and seeing what ones I like, then I'll keep an eye on the second hand listings...

It would make life easier, wouldn't it! dry.gif

After mucking around with numbers in excel for a while, I've worked out that I only need to learn 22 bar numbers that I didn't know already, which is quite a lot less than I thought I would need to learn. biggrin.gif

It's not the history part that's worrying me though, it's the listening. We've had about 20 mins on it in lessons all year and I'm having to result to learning the pieces in order to answer the questions rather than actual listening. wacko.gif I'm getting quite good at answering the questions without even listening to the extract once. laugh.gif

I'm really bored. sad.gif I had the music exam this morning then had worked out I'd practise the recorder all afternoon while waiting to catch the train to my lesson. The slight problem is that the other people sitting the exam are in the music block, so practising scales in the room next door is a bit of non-starter. I've been sitting around for the last hour , then had the brainwave to go on hofnote, but turns out my school has blocked all the media player boxes dry.gif So now I'm back to being bored...

EDIT: I wonder if it would be better to be bored out of my mind and at the station or bored out of my mind here...hmm.

So, I've put my books in alphabetical order, sorted all my music by instrument, arranged my wardrobe by item (and then in size order, smallest to largest...) and cleared out some other drawers. Wondering what to do next...

Organise all your make-up.

Sort out the shelves/cupboard in the bathroom and get rid of all those cosmeticy gists that you won't ever use because you don't like the smell or whatever.

Make a cushion using worn out clothes or things you're never going to wear again for the cover.

Learn how to knit (I taught myself froma book a couple of years ago).

Repair the hem/strap on your trousers/top which you've been meaning to do for ages and haven't quite got round to doing yet.

Paint or draw a picture (you could maybe do a penguin...).

That would have been a great idea! I ended grabbing a random book form the library to take to read on the platform, but it was a pretty boring book, so I'm not sure it was really an improvement than doing nothing.
