I think he's just taking the mick out of Big Brother. The voice over, ie. "Day 1 in the Big Brother house etc...." is always done by a bloke with a north east accent

Claudia's right Ever since the first series of Big Brother, the voiceovers have been done, very famously, with a man with a strong Newcastle accent.

Hence my attempt at humour!

Okay. Having never really watched big brother I didn't know that the presenter had a geordie accent. It sounded a bit like you were equating people from the North East with big brother - and I didn't like that.

I spent a lot of time in Newcastle a few years back, had a lot of fun up there, even if they are all a bit unhinged The girl I was with at the time would refuse to stand under a brolly with me if it was peeing down with rain - weirdo! I think the quote was "I'm not being seen under THAT!".

I posted off my assignment today ( ), after spending 10 hours on it since Sunday night (I worked until 2.30am on Monday morning).

My regular curry house knows I like mine hot so they made up some Naga Chili Paste the other week for me to mix in my Jalfrezi... flippin' ###### that was hot.. I normally add more chopped fresh green chilis, but the heat from that paste was crazy... Enjoyed it though; I'm not satisfied unless my mouth is literally on fire.

I usually add some of Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce to baked beans whenever I have them... yum

I travel a lot in my job, regularly to Far East etc, and I just cannot understand why people like hot spicy food -you can't taste anything else but the chilli or whatever.
Give me a slow cooked lamb shank with mint gravy, a few Jersey potatoes and plenty of veg every time.

I would have to disagree... if fresh chilis are used at least. Even a vindaloo can be very tasty if done correctly. Also, a lot of thai food uses chilis and that is definitely very varied in taste!

Using loads of Chili powder sucks, however.

I went into my old school this morning, for the purposes of saying "hello" (for instance!) to those who made my time at high school bearable. I didn't really speak to any students, as those of my age weren't there (study leave). However, I spent some time talking to two English teachers who I am still in touch with and would reasonably think of as friends, which was nice. I'd not really been back since leaving, and the contrast between the school and the college I now go to was incredible. I certainly made the right decision in moving on! It was such a small world! I think I'd certainly have gone mad if I'd remained there, and people tell me that I've improved in confidence etc since I left. Fancy!

I'm glad to hear that you went back, Matthew. I always feel a bit sorry for teachers, because they get to know some of their pupils really well, and then they leave and sometimes you never hear from them again! (Though some do keep in touch for a long time.)

Pleased, too, to hear that you made the right decision in moving on. These choices can be very difficult at the time, and it's great when they work out well.
