I haven't been doing them solid since this morning! I've taken the dog for a walk in the mean time and have been practising scales between pressing 'new track'. I wouldn't have been able to just sit and watch the thing go round and round for hours on end. wacko.gif

Haha fair enough smile.gif

Why am I finding scales etc so hard to do since the pressure of an exam has gone away? Hum.. odd. I know I should do it but... meh, I'd rather go out and do other stuff!

Maybe I'm one of those people that needs the big, scary, beating stick of an exam to motivate them. I'm supposed to have pretty much perfected my G3 pieces and learned a few other quite challenging bits but I'm dragging my heels. I have 2 weeks to pull it together or my teacher will think I'm an idiot...

When I'm in the mood it just doesn't bother me smile.gif In fact it quite annoyed me when I did my exam as I'd practiced everything and only had to play 2 or 3 of them! I was expecting to be asked to play the whole lot!

I think the harder I work at sight-reading, the worse I get at memorising sad.gif I'm not sure if this whole "It's possible to be good at both" thing is a joke or not sad.gif Perhaps my poor brain cell is just cracking under the strain...

A few months ago I could play Moonlight Sonata 1st mvt from memory as I'd learned it several years ago (the right notes, no real articulation) all the way through. Now I fail every time sad.gif

I wouldn't worry about it too much, that mvt is pretty repetetive as they go, so there's a lot of scope for getting lost. Anyway, look on the bright side, the more times you forget and relearn something, the more ingrained it will eventually be. wink.gif

If you could play it from memory before, it won't take long to learn it again, you just need to do a bit of reminding your fingers (and brain) where they're going. smile.gif

Yeah I have the sheets that I learned from floating around somewhere so I'll go back to them smile.gif It's quite a simple piece note-wise IMO, just has big stretches which you need the hands for.. I wish I could contemplate learning the rest of the sonata, however smile.gif
