Ho hum. Mum has booked tickets for our family (minus 12 year old sister who will be sleeping over at friends) to go to the Lord of the Rings all nighter at the imax.

It starts at midnight, then plays through all night until 8am ish the next morning. Will probably fall asleep sleep.gif but should be fun biggrin.gif

Wow, Australia!!!! I've never been out of Europe.

Don't be scared about flying! Try to enjoy it. Take your most calming classical music on the aeroplane. Then you can try to drown out all the noises. Just sit back and have a good time, feel all cosy snuggled up in your seat, with blankets, and pillows, and food being brought to you! Maybe take a few good books, anything you want really.

I don't really know what advice to give, I just sort of listed the reasons why I love flying!

But I get scared of things badly too. Like when I had to have my teeth pulled out. I was terrified, and wouldn't let them do it first time round, so had to book another appointment. I've had it done before, and knew I hated the crunching sounds. So I put together a little playlist on my ipod to help drown it out.

Think about what you're most scared about, and how to confront them.

Thanks. I think i'll make sure I've got all my music with me. I've also got lots of books to take, and we're flying with Emirates who have all these individual television things on the seats, so i'll watch lots of films etc.

I remember having teeth out! I had the ones right near the back out and was awake for the whole thing. I had two out in one session, and then went back for the other two the next week, so I knew what was coming the next time, and the dentist kindly gave me the week to worry about it! dry.gif The crunching is awful! What's worse in when I had mine out, I apparently have HUGE roots much bigger than the average adult, and my teeth are very strong too, and they couldn't get the top one out for ages, and the dentist was so tired she had to call in another dentist. This new dentist was a MASSIVE woman who came in, held onto my forehead grabbed my tooth and wrenched so hard my head was going side to side! Through all of this, I was just sat that being thrown around! I felt SO sick that whole afternoon and the pain was AWFUL despite pain killers! I feel ill just thinking about it! And I can still taste the strawberry gel they put on the gum before the injections! ill.gif ill.gif ill.gif

I did economy to Thailand once. I would have like to have upgraded to 1st but I don't think I could have afforded it... the flights were paid for by my firm but I reckon from Business > 1st is still a good few thousand.

Make sure you do your exercises to stop your legs getting numb (and also to prevent DVT). When I was little (~8) I remember we were on a flight and I went to use the toilet on my own. After I washed my hands I went to dry them and the towel dispenser looked a bit weird. I wasn't sure how to get them out so I thought you must press a button or something and they come out. I pressed the button and nothing happened so then I pressed it again, still nothing... Awww sad.gif , I've had overall.... *counts in mouth* 6 teeth pulled out wacko.gif I was awake for them all but they were all milk teeth happy.gif

I had my first out when I was 6 or 7. All I can really remember is when I sat down, I was clutching a tiny teddy I'd made myself, which I took to all hospital/doctor/dentist apps. The dentist came over and said "Now, let's give teddy to mummy so that we don't get any blood on him" unsure.gif then they started pulling them out, and it hurt so cried a LOT and I remember the nurse person pleading with me to stop, and mopping my face up with tissues laugh.gif

I REFUSED to let them pull out any more after that. But then 6 years later I was summoned to have another 2 out. (These 3 were all molars, and pulled because they came through with very very little enamel, so rotted and got infected) These hurt a lot too. I remember squeaking when he started pulling, and he said "you can feel that?" I nodded, so he stuck an injection in the roof of my mouth ill.gif I'd convinced myself that it was only because I was little that it hurt so much, but I was wrong.

Then another year later, a few months ago, my orthodontist said I needed to have three out, two canines and another molar- all on top. (This was to do with braces...) it didn't hurt at all! Which was great.

But then on my top teeth I had my four front teeth, then on right hand I was missing three teeth in a row, and left was one tooth missing, tooth there, tooth missing. Luckily two teeth have grown in since... but when I smile, it still looks like I've only got 4 top front teeth mad.gif

ENJOYED?! blink.gif

How exactly? What can be enjoyable about being pinned down in a chair andhaving long pointy metal things jammed into your gums, then having a pair of pliers shoved into your mouth to push and pull the teeth backwards and forwards and twist them around until eventually the satisfying crunching sound of bone being ripped/cracked apart occurs, and the teeth are literally ripped out of the socket.

Sorry, am I missing something here?
Miss Ross
I don't know, I just liked it! ph34r.gif

Just seen Skylark's signature for today. Hooray for the forum being back!

Today is odd.
Tomorrow I am off work because of it being my mother-in-law's funeral.
Today I have lots of urgent things to do, with a stupid 4-6pm meeting (meetings beyond 5pm - really not a reasonable thing to do!), and the meeting is with a group of people who...well, are used to getting things their own way and have much to say about things being done any other way, and they also occasionally ask for the technically-not-possible, then suggest to other people on the team that a different developer is approached when I tell them it's impossible (and one thing they insisted was possible, I asked them to send me a screen-shot of how they had it on the front end so I could try to work out how it was done in the background, and they came back and said they'd looked in to it and indeed their set up turned out not to have that functionality they were insisting on after all, and perhaps could't we get a programmer from the software manufacturer to provide me with advice. Hang on. Who just got it wrong about what the product can/can't do, and I'm the one who needs assistance?!)
And I just don't give a stuff about any of it. By 4pm what little enthusiasm I have for the day will be well worn out, having to deal with people who just seem to want to make things difficult fo the sake of it will not be something I'm up for. Hopefully my colleagues will step in when/if I get too close to saying anything tooooo inappropriate to these people smile.gif

Yep, I'm a leave at 4pm person. Most of the people I work with in the US are also early people - as an example, I had a meeting with one of them at 11am UK time yesterday, whcih was 6am her time (on a Monday morning! And she was in her office!) But it's just these extra special get their own way external people who we have to pander to, who want it at a time which is most inconvenient for us in the UK.

Yay! I hope they continue to progress. smile.gif

My alarm clock failed me this morning and I didn't wake up until my driving instructor arrived. Not good. sad.gif

When you've been messing around in the cafe for a while, it's quite strange to come out and see that the rest of the forum have been having serious musical discussions biggrin.gif

I am getting sick of the fact that the only people to have added me on MSN in the past six months have been almost exclusively promiscuous porn types. I mean, there's nothing wrong with promiscuous porn types as such, but once you've seen one you've seen 'em all.

For the record, I should submit that I do not entertain these cheeky ladies, and I resist their offers to "bust" me into their exhibitions with VIP seats!

Where are they getting my address from?!! mad.gif

I just nearly fell down a set of stone steps.

Could have been a nasty end for Babybird2... sad.gif

It's easily fixed.... privacy settings - don't allow anyone to communicate with you unless they are on your list. If there's no comment in the request or you don't recognise the address, decline it.

Anyhow Matthew - could you compile a list of these promiscuous womens' email addresses and pass it on to h_c - it'll give him something better to do late at night other than hanging around on the forums tongue.gif laugh.gif

Oh no, then who would I have to play with at Chester ohmy.gif ?

I hope you are OK, BB. I did that once when I was about two - apparently I decided to see how far my pram would go down the steps and forgot to let go! There were lots of bent wheels and a bent Gerald!

Yes, you have my e-mail Matthew, forward them tongue.gif
