It means fizzy but why "-ade" ???? unsure.gif

-ade on a wiki page

Doesn't really mean fizzy apparently!

After chatting with a friend over dinner tonight, I discovered that she can play clarinet and steel drums. I've known her 7 years and didn't know she was remotely musical (she gave up before I met her and apparently has the odd tinker with the clarinet).

She's put thoughts into my head. I might buy a Clarinet.... blink.gif She's going to dig hers out and show me later in the week smile.gif

Plink Plonk! Finding a teacher may be a little difficult, and as Patrick Moore has popped his clogs, I've got no chance of ever being taught by the master himself wink.gif

I'll take a wander round some music shops next weekend. I'm expecting a bit of extra cash in the next few weeks so can actually afford to get a new toy sometime soon if I *really* want one smile.gif

Perhaps he has gone then...although I know there have been a number of fake reports about his death. He is/was 86.

He gave an interview in June this year apparently.

Definitely still with us, but no longer playing his xylophone due to arthritis/hand problems. So he might not be the best teacher out there! (Plus, you'll have to travel to him, he doesn't travel much any more. The Sky at Night is filmed at his house now).

Useful fact: Patrick Moore once played the piano to accompany Albert Einstein on violin. This was just at a gathering somewhere, not formal, and not anything that got recorded.

To be, or not to be: that is the question.

Is that there are no reasons why you should do something, a good enough reason for why you shouldn't?

You should do things purely because you want to. There's no sane reason for jumping out of a perfectly functional plane but I did it 3 times, for example tongue.gif

Ooh, is it fun? I've always wanted to... I'm a wee bit of an adrenaline junkie, if a little bit of a chicken adrenaline junkie. I've only ever really been skiing... and paragliding... but I love rollercoasters! Especially detonator at Thorpe Park. The best ride EVER. Or saw. But detonator is amazing, because you feel like you're actuallygoing to die, and you literally can't stop yourself screaming, but then you hit the bottom and get a headrush and think "phoar, I didn't die!"

I'm thinking of doing bungee jumping for my birthday this year... if I'm allowed to blush.gif

What's skydiving like?

You're right, Detonator is the best ride for the initial "shock" at TP IMO. The rest of them just don't do that much for me.

What's retinal detachment? The bit in your eye comes off from something? Ahh well, I don't think that would happen to me. I'm pretty healthy, apart from a dodgy kidney, missing teeth, eczema and blackouts. They would be ok, wouldn't they?

Isn't skydiving the opposite of flying? If you were flying you wouldn't be in danger of splattering yourself on the ground. tongue.gif

Once you hit terminal velocity (well, close to it), it doesn't feel like you are falling anymore, hence "close to flying" smile.gif

This is closer to flying, actually.. scary though!
