I'm quite pleased with myself because I managed to play the 2nd flute part for Carmina Burana all on my own and didn't get lost despite all the changes of metre and tempo. smile.gif I normally switch between 1st and 2nd flute depending on who turns up, but this piece had 3 flute parts. The other 2 firsts wanted to play the 1st part and all of the seconds insisted on doing the 3rd flute part, which left me on my own. ph34r.gif

Went in the garden this morning.
I was happy to see a ladybird. I hadn't seen one for quite some time. But then I spotted another one..and another one. They're everywhere!!! I never saw so many together!!! What is going on? Are we suddenly being invaded by ladybirds??!! unsure.gif

I wish I had read about it. I made the mistake of opening the windows this morning before I noticed and spent the last 1/2 hour getting rid of all the ones that came indoors!!! It is so strange. They are everywhere..on the windows, on the doors. I'll keep the windows closed for the rest of the day!!! wacko.gif
Crotchetymum
Are they looking for over-wintering places? We had a few wasps in a couple of weeks ago for that reason. There was a ladybird on my bedroom curtains last night - but I'm still no good at telling whether they're the not-so-welcome harlequin ones or not.

This is also a good site http://www.harlequin-survey.org/recognitio...distinction.htm. The ones I think I keep seeing are the succinea, from the photos, and it's the harlequins that want to come indoors apparently, as well as the native 2-spot.

I'm hoping I don't pick up the accent, but then I don't spend that much time around actual local people, so I think I'm much more likely to pick up a mixture of welsh/general northern/london accents than geordie.

Sarah wants a proper tenor recorder. sad.gif

By 'proper' I presume you're thinking 'wooden'...

That's the one. The nice ones are sooo expensive. sad.gif

Are you anywhere close to acquiring one Sarah?

Erm, well it depends which way you look at it really. I probably could just about afford a decentish one, but that wouldn't really be a sensible idea. I haven't really been planning to get one as such as I don't really need one, I would just quite like one, and I guess I might actually play some tenor music if I had a nicer instrument. Also, there's the fact that I've spent a ridiculous amount on various recorders over the last year and a half. And then there's the 'if I did decide to get another recorder, a renaissance descant is probably higher up the wish list' but they're even more expensive.

So I guess the answer is I don't know. unsure.gif

Well that's downright wrong! They're not legal tender, so a shop (even in Scotland) doesn't have to accept them as payment if they don't want to, but there's definitely nothing wrong with using them.

Hmm, I'm looking through photos and selecting ones to get printed off with truprint, to make a scrapbook with, or a hanging wall thing, or an album.

But I'm also considering making a scrapbook for a close friend's birthday unsure.gif because most of the photos are of us (because we're the most eccentric, willing to jump around in front of a camera, go to every event if it kills us people of the group blush.gif ). But why should I make one for her, when I could for everyone else too? And if I do make one for her, should I make two, and one for myself too?

Argh, sorry, just thinking aloud.

Oh yes, I knew it was wrong, but I decided discretion was the better part of valour, and used an English fiver instead...
